Positive: The hotel is attractive, clean, comfortable, and a great value. The host was kind and very helpful. She answered all of our questions, took us to breakfast in the morning, drove us to the Stone Forest, and even offered to drive us to the high-speed railway station the next morning. The only reason it's not 10 stars is the location. It appears to be within walking distance to the Stone Forest, but it's not. The host made up for this by driving us there, though, and besides, there don't appear to be any hotels right outside the park entrance (at least not yet). If you're wondering whether you should stay here or just take a day trip to the Stone Forest from Kunming, I think you should absolutely stay here (two nights to have a full day). My wife and I got to the Stone Forest around 9 AM and left around 4 PM. Sure, you could see the main area in only an hour or two, but if you like to hike, there are several longish trails that take you deeper (and away from the crowds). Plus, you can do what we did and didi to the Naigu Stone Forest for a few more hours of walking after you see the main stone forest. If you have the time, you could even stay more nights and see the Naigu Stone Forest on the second day, or one of the many other nearby attractions that get overshadowed by the stone forests.

Negative: The location, but this is a minor point because the host drove us to the Stone Forest. The hotel is in a sleepy area (at least when we were there, off season) with few restaurants, although the two we found were excellent.
