Stone Turtle Lodges has three newly constructed individual cabins with 840 square feet of charming comfort. Cabins have a large picture window and a deck with a view of Sleeping Ute Mountain and the carved mesas of Mesa Verde National Monument. The cabins are centrally located to the high mountains, Anasazi sites, hiking trails, rivers, and lakes. Surrounded by quiet farm land. Sunsets are spectacular. Far from city lights. Full view of the stars right from the cabin’s front porch.
Each cabin has one bedroom with queen bed downstairs and a large loft with 3 twin beds. The one bath has a spacious tiled shower. Kitchen has refrigerator, stove top, microwave and Keurig hot drink server. Living area has love seat, swivel chairs and desk. Linen, towels, dishes and pans are all provided. There is also a horse corral available for use.
The cabins are located 3 miles north of Cortez, CO and 8 miles south of Dolores, CO. We are a 12 miles from Mesa Verde National Park, 49 miles from Durango CO, 63 miles from Telluride CO, 10 miles from Anasazi Heritage Center, and 8 miles from McPhee Reservoir. High country and desert hiking trails are from 5 miles to 60 miles away. Excellent fishing holes all around us. Famous rafting trips on the Animas and Dolores Rivers in spring and summer.

Summary: Place was clean and well organized. Like being slightly outta the way and a great rock and gem store just down the street. We say a deer in the yard. Close to Durango and Mesa Verde and other neat attractions.

Summary: Sleeping for 5, but realistically only seating for 4. These small houses are fresh and new and nice. The kitchen is really more of a kitchenette, but this is shown in the listing. Pay attention to the owners recommendation to run the ceiling fan or the loft will get hot.

Summary: I and my adult son stayed in one of the cabins at Stone Turtle Lodges in July 2022. The cabin is a great location for visiting Durango, Mesa Verde, Telluride, and towns along the Million Dollar Highway. We also found multiple hiking trailheads along the roads to all of these locations. The cabin is very clean and comfortable; it is well stocked as described. Janice is easy to communicate with and responds promptly to messages. And yes, her cookies are scrumptious!! I recommend this as a terrific place to stay!

Summary: This cabin felt much bigger than the description suggests. We were only there for one night and was late arriving. Janice left a light on for us and even had freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for us. We loved staying here and were very comfortable! Very clean and extra touches such as green plants.

Summary: It is a well laid out small home with an upstairs; Great for a couple or a small family. Immaculate and everything worked predictably and properly. Bucolic agrarian views upstairs & downstairs in the days, and a nice, neat deck for night stargazers. The fresh cookies were a nice touch, too. Access to Cortez, CO by car is easy & quick.
