4 Bedroom House in Germantown

Our home is located in a quite hollow beside the Kline Kill (stream) at the dead end of a country lane 10 minutes from Hudson in southern Columbia County. A Great Room addition integrates seamlessly with the original house built in the 1800's and renovated to blend modern living with historic charm. The well-stocked kitchen features bluestone counters, meticulously planned lighting, and new appliances. French doors lead onto a screened-in porch with wrought iron couch, chairs, and dining table.
One king-sized bedroom is on the main floor with a full bath. Upstairs is another king-size bedroom, a queen bedroom, and single bedroom. A half bath serves those three rooms.
Our lush, wooded setting is home to a wonderful assortment of wildlife, including ducks, herons, hummingbirds, beavers, frogs, all kinds of bird-feeder birds, and more. Outdoor amenities include basketball hoop, bicycle riding, and croquet, two decks, a canoe, a kayak, a grill, and our stream side shower is a favorite!
A short stroll over the historic iron works Walkers Mills Bridge (built in 1910 restored in 2017 for pedestrian use only) leads to panoramic Catskill views across vast the rolling meadows in land conservancy.
Local attractions within a 5-15 minute drive include Warren Street in Hudson, the concert halls and museums at Bard College, Olana Historic House, Taghkanic Lake State Park (with swimming), Livingston Park with tennis court, eight+ wineries/breweries/distilleries, boat access to the Hudson River, orchards for apple picking, and more. Summary: The property is in a beautiful location and the property owner was quick to respond to any questions we had. The house had a lovely, remodeled kitchen and two living areas that were great for spending time with family. Would definitely stay at this property again!

Summary: We had such a lovely visit to Germantown staying in this beautiful home. The location is truly idyllic. This comfortable house has a very well-stocked kitchen making meal preparation easy. We even checked out the kayaks on the stream behind the house. My only quibble is that the listing says the house has 2 full baths, but I don't count the outdoor shower as a full bath. I would still return.

Summary: The house is really lovely! Just the right combination of old country charm and contemporary/modern vibes. We loved the outdoor shower (a HUGE plus). The views from the pedestrian bridge are amazing- really pretty country. The house was fully stocked with a variety of useful and fun items and the screened in porch was where we had coffee every morning- Just terrific! The host was very responsive. We would definitely go back!!

Summary: Who can argue with a nice stream paddle in one's backyard? Or an easy walk to check out goldfinches, cattle and sparrows? Or having easy access to great biking? Our stay here in Germantown was delightful, even with more than our share of rain. The house provides a great staging ground for a host of activities, but is super for hanging out in too. There are a number of porches and decks to use, depending on the time of day and the intensity of the sun. The best part just may be the outdoor shower with a private view of that stream. Enjoy!

Summary: David and Kari’s home was the perfect place for our family to stay for the month. It was truly such a comfortable setting. We immediately felt right at home with the many living rooms to lounge, read, play games and ‘work remotely from home’. We all love to cook so it was great to have such a well-equipped sand spacious kitchen with all the appliances/utensils we could need for cooking and entertaining. We shared many family meals together in the large dining area. We also took full advantage of the beautiful, private property - canoeing in the river, volleyball outside, bike-riding down the quiet neighboring roads - their home has everything! The views from every window were peaceful and worthy of a painting. The star gazing was incredible … we actually spotted 14 shooting stars one evening! There really wasn’t anything else we could have hoped for... except to stay much much longer! David was also super easy to communicate with, messaged us some fun things to do in the area, and quickly answered any questions we had. We highly recommend their home, and plan to stay again soon!

Summary: We stayed at David's last fall and liked it so much we decided to come back. The house is comfortable and very well appointed, and David is a great host - very communicative and helpful. The pictures do a pretty good job of describing the house. Absolutely nothing to complain about... But it is the setting that is so special. At the end of a quiet road, beautiful mature trees all around, a broad lawn surrounding the house and sloping down to a stream/pond. It is quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The house sits up from the pond and affords a good view of the property, with birds and flowers and turtles to watch. Last year we were out and about a lot - so many good things to do in the area. This time we stayed an extra day and spent more time enjoying the house and the land. We will be back!

Summary: The property is lovely, furnished with all the amenities you could want. It is located on a quiet dead in street on a stream. The fully restored house has a wonderful great room/kitchen/screened in porch addition that we spent hours enjoying. Additionally it is only 20-30 minutes from the area attractions and restaurants. Definitely a place to visit and enjoy.
