Summary: This was our sixth time staying with our large family and friends in this gorgeous rambling house. It is our favourite place to stay every time we visit France and we have already booked La Canal again for this year. It is just perfect, comfortable beds, good bathrooms, a large private garden where we spend a good deal of time relaxing in one of the several shady spots with loungers and tables or around the well maintained salt water pool. We adore cooking in the very charming and well set up kitchen. The village is literally only few hundred feet away for picking up those fresh croissants for breakfast and visiting the two fantastic markets there each each. Most meals are eaten outside under the Mulberry trees. Heaven!! Nicola is the perfect host and always makes sure that everything is as it should be. Very highly recommended. A big thank you to Nicoala, as always!!!

Summary: We have stayed at La Canal on many occasions, but this was the first time during the month of September. It turned out to be a great time of the year with the evenings cooler but the days still lovely and warm enough to swim in the wonderful huge pool. We were invited on several occasions to join Nicola and her welcoming friends on local hikes. How fantastic and varied the local countryside is for walking, including the beautiful coastal path where we all swam in the sea to cool off! La Canal is a wonderful old house with very spacious bedrooms and a large well-tended and much-loved garden. Nicola is a very keen gardener and now grows her own organic fruit and vegetables which may find their way to your table… I can’t wait for my next trip later this year! Sally

Summary: Our family, a group of 6 adults and 4 children stayed at La Canal in mid August 2018 and had a wonderful holiday. The house is very spacious and well appointed, with a charming and relaxed French farm house feel, surrounded by a huge 2 acre garden that creates a real sense of space and privacy. There is a large pool which the kids loved, and kept them occupied most days as they spent hours splashing around in it ! In the evening there is a lovely graveled courtyard area in front of the house that is shrouded by mulberry trees which makes it a great place to sit outside for family BBQ's, relax and enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine ! The house is in a great location relative to the town, and you are 5 mins walk from the heart of the town, where there are plenty of places to eat, drink and pick up fresh bread and groceries. While we were there the town held 2 markets (food and arts/crafts), and on Friday night had a live cover band playing in the main street where families of all ages danced and enjoyed the evening. The house is also well positioned to do some local sightseeing, and we spent a day down in St Tropez (35 miles), and an afternoon swimming in lake near the stunning Gorges du Verdon (20 miles). Nicola, thank you for being a wonderful host and for letting us share this beautiful house for a week - we had a fabulous holiday and would highly recommend it !!

Summary: Our family of 3 generations aged 9 to 70 spent 2 weeks in this beautiful property. The characterful house was immaculately clean and well equipped with enough space for all 12 of us to spend time together and retreat to our separate spaces. The children loved playing in the private, enclosed grounds and enormous swimming pool and we had lovely evenings eating our dinner under the Mulberry trees and playing boules. The village of Lorgues is situated right outside the gate to the property and has several cafes and restaurants, 2 supermarkets, a cinema and a fabulous weekly market! The best market that we have found in France! While we could have happily spent the entire 2 weeks in the house and village, having travelled all the way from Australia we felt compelled to explore the region. Our favourite day trips from the house included the Verdon Gorge where we swam and kayaked in the picturesque lake, a ferry ride from St.Maxime to St. Tropez, a boat trip from Cassis to swim in the amazing Calanques, a day trip to Monaco to visit the fantastic Musee Oceanographic and a lovely day trip to the quaint Italian village of Dolceaqua. Nicola was a lovely host who was incredibly helpful without being intrusive and her local knowledge was indispensable. Thank you Nicola,we have many wonderful memories from our stay and hope to return soon!

Summary: Thank you Nicola for a really wonderful stay with you in your beautiful house on the edge of Lorgues. We were a group of 16 with 8 adults and 8 children ranging in age from 1 - 7years. When we arrived there had been a confusion over the numbers in our group and we were more than expected. Nicola was really good in dealing with that and quickly set up some extra beds for the children. The house has an unusual lay-out so that some bedrooms can only be accessed by passing through others on each floor. We did not find this a problem however and the rooms themselves were all spacious and full of beautiful things collected during travels over the years which really made the house feel homely. The pool area is stunning and our kids loved spending hours each day playing in the water. We all loved eating under the mulberry trees and watching meteor showers at night. The house is tricky to find at first but once you know it, it is very convenient and lovely to be able to stroll into town to buy croissants or for an evening meal. Nicola was a great host, living on site in a separate wing of the house - there to answer any questions and help if needed but never intrusive. She took care to suggest great days out, places to eat, help with anything, and was really welcoming to so many kids about the place!

Summary: We spent a week at Nicola's and had an ideal Provencal vacation. Completely private, set within gorgeously landscaped grounds, and yet town (bakeries, markets, restaurants) is right outside the wall. The villa itself is lovely and the bedrooms comfortable and tastefully decorated. We loved having dinner outside under the mulberry trees and lounging by the pretty pool after a morning trip. Lorgues is nicely situated to get to something fantastic in any direction (coast, lavender, gorge) while surrounded by lovely picturesque villages nearby. Nicola couldn't have been a better host - there, if needed, to help make reservations, give advice, or loan maps and market baskets! We stayed a week and are eager to return.

Summary: This traditional bastide was an ideal holiday location for our multi-generation family. It is based in extensive and completely secure gardens with plenty of parking space and just a short walk into the centre of bustling Lorgues. Patisseries, ice-cream shops, cafes, pharmacists and clothes shops are all accessible on foot and it is just a short car trip for a supermarket shop if required. The salt water swimming pool is large and there are plenty of sun loungers, mattresses, umbrellas and olive trees for shade. Swimming towels are provided for all in addition to bath towels which is really helpful. A full size table-tennis table, together with a set of boules, plenty of children's videos and a stack of holiday reads kept us all busy. If you are a keen cook you won't be disappointed. Not only is there a massive collection of cook books but, unusually, there is a very comprehensive set of kitchen tools, gorgeous pottery serving dishes and copious amounts of dishwasher friendly crockery. There are two full size fridges with freezers and a gas bbq. The bastide itself is a handsome building. All the rooms are spacious with fully functioning shutters. There are fans in all the bedrooms. Decoration is simple with tiled floors and eye-catching textiles and pictures throughout. The kitchen was too small for 8 of us to eat in but this was not an issue as the main table outside had seating for 12. At lunchtimes we ate under the shade of ancient mulberry trees and in the evening we moved the table so that we could watch the striking starry skies and views out to the mountains. As well as the main table there were three other tables and sets of chairs, so we were spoilt for choice for drinking areas. Running through the property features omits the key ingredient for our wonderful holiday and that was Nicola herself. Right from the start, she was helpful, informative and utterly charming. Nothing was too much trouble. All our queries were addressed fully and promptly. Her extensive regional knowledge makes her a wonderful source of information and she is generous with her time and ideas. A very big thank you from us all - we have had the most wonderful stay.

Summary: This is a lovely setting but overpriced for the lack of upkeep. The drainage left a lot to be desired resulting in Smelly sinks and toilets. We had to run the showers and taps for 15-20 minutes before any warm water came through in most bathrooms. I had one warm, one tepid shower during the week and the rest were cold. I did not want to waste precision water and neither did the others. There are loose tiles on the floors. Having said that eating out under the mulberry bushes was lovely and the pool is great too. The village is mediaevil, quaint and interesting. The patio area is appealing.

Summary: Yet again, this was another wonderful stay at La Canal. We have stayed here in 2010 and 2012, and this time we returned with our children. We had a lovely relaxing week by the gorgeous pool, watching our children play in the garden and eating delicious food under the mulberry trees. Afternoons were spent wandering to the village for icecream (for the kids) and rose (for the adults)! We can't wait to come back again... we have already booked for next year!
