Summary: As a final crack at summer living before the hustle, bustle, hum & drum of the year gets underway this couldn't be more ideal. Kiwiana by the beach. No frills relaxation. We will be back for sure.

Summary: We checked in to find a musty bach that needed some serious airing out and lots of flies. We then found a wet patch on the carpet covered by a towel and a note from the bach carer. The bach carer didn’t seem to care much about the patch and hadn’t done anything about it. My friends and I were certain this patch was human urine by the smell of it and it took until the last day of our stay to dry out. Each time we left the house the bach became musty and stinky again. I’ve contacted the owner and he didn’t seem to care. Oh well. Apart from this, it’s a great bach. It has a massive lawn, a big deck that soaks in the sun right until it dips behind the horizon and a functional kitchen. The toilet is a bit rough, in a tiny shed that is hard to get in and out of. The flush doesn’t work very well. The pump alarm was a bit annoying but it’s part of the place. The septic tank also seemed to be overflowing and began to smell on the last two days of our stay. Overall, great spot, very basic facilities, a bit smelly. Don’t expect nice touches from the host with this stay, but it will still give you a good base for your holiday.

Summary: Utterly traditional bach for a traditional holiday. Everything the way it used to be. Toilet outside the back door. Bed a bit old, but brand new pillows. Very clean and tidy. Everything you need and sooo close to the beach.

Summary: Sea view, comfort and character. The outdoor furniture created a perfect space to relax, read, chat. Getting your bearings on what is where, making beds and setting up the outdoor furniture takes about 45mins. There are many cupboards with wonderful surprises so check them out to make the most of this place.

Summary: Exactly what a Mahia bach should be. Basic amenities but very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. Good room layout. We comfortably had two families of three and one couple sleeping inside. The kids enjoyed the extensive lawn area. Safe and fenced. Reserve and beach right out front. Handy to the campground store, general store and the pub. Will definitely stay again.
