It also has enough privacy for a great family getaway or options for renting multiple cottages with a larger group. The front door is 150 feet away from the bluff and then only 40 steps down to a private beach!
Sunset Beach Cottages is a peaceful and private Lake Michigan setting with a breathtaking view of Lake Michigan and a pristine sandy beach. We are conveniently located in the Muskegon area, but tucked away in a private setting with miles of beachfront at the bottom of the bluff.
Our 6, 1-4 bedroom cottages are close enough together to be rented in groups for family reunions and other types of get togethers, yet far enough apart to provide for your own privacy. The setting is perfect for both family gatherings as well as your own private getaway vacation. There is plenty of space, both inside the cottages, and on the well maintained grass covered grounds. Our private beach has some of the finest beach sand in the world, plus the soothing sounds of waves lapping on the shoreline make for an enjoyable and relaxing time.

Summary: Loved this property. The proximity to Muskegon is so convenient and yet remote enough to have a quiet escape. The cabins are quaint with all amenities you could need. Just enough, while keeping the sanctity of a small getaway. The beach is lovely. Wish there were some more beach items like chairs, umbrellas and toys. But in all, lovely spot to enjoy those Michigan sunsets.

Summary: My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend. The location is spectacular--views of Lake Michigan are breathtaking. The cottage is very cozy. The cottage felt very private, even though other people were staying in nearby cabins. Everything was great--the only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the kitchen supplies. The cookware is old and needs to be replaced. There is no toaster. Otherwise, it's a great place to stay. Great access to Muskegon and North Muskegon and State Parks nearby. We would definitely stay here again.

Summary: We stayed at this cottage with our infant for about a week. The location can’t be beat! Just a few steps away from the beach—great when you are catering to the whims of kids, or just don’t want to have to drive to the beach. Other guests in the other cabins seemed very respectful of each other, so no problem there. The owners were very nice and very accommodating. The cottage had mostly everything you need. We will probably pack some extra kitchen gear that our place lacked for next time, like a proper spoon/ladle and a dish rack. On speaking with other guests, it seemed that all the other cabins had these things so these items might usually be in place. 4 stars instead of 5 because while our cabin was tidy, there was sand in most places—the couch, beds, floor. It wasn’t apparent until the evening, likely the previous guests claimed to have cleaned but didn’t do a thorough job.

Summary: We had a great stay at the Sunset Beach Cottages. The Cottage was clean, the grounds were beautiful, and the views were absolutely lovely. We had a relaxing time. The new owners are wonderful and are working hard to spruce up the cottages. There is a playground area for children, picnic tables for each cottage, and trees and flowers everywhere. Please note, that the four cottages are quite close together, and all six share only one beach access fire pit/lounge type area, which is not very big. This location is really prime for people with young kids. There is a little space on the actual sand for kids to play and even space to put some chairs but only at certain times of the day. This is probably the biggest downfall.

Summary: What a wonderful surprise to find this little gem just down the road from our past years stay at Muskegon State Park Campground. We could not have asked for a better, more relaxing location than at the Sunset Beach Cottages. We got lucky and no one else was staying during our visit in the other 3 cottages by the bluff so, we had our own private beach front and the beach goes on for miles and the view of the sunsets are amazing. Cottage #6 is where we stayed and it was very nicely sized for a family of 4 with plenty of room to spread out but the outside area is what we enjoyed the most. We go on vacation to "get out" and for the kids they enjoyed the basketball court, tether ball and the swing set. We would have been fine just staying at the cottage all day and had plenty of things to do. The area though is perfect for enjoying the parks, beach and great historical museums. The Sunset Beach Cottages may be our new bi-yearly vacation spot, next time we will stay longer. Thank you for making the check-in and check-out so easy as well. Very nice and welcoming owners.

Summary: This property has 4 cottages on it. We stayed in #6 which is behind the other three. We enjoyed walking on the beach and having a bonfire at night. There are also swings and a basketball court. The owners were very friendly and accommodating!
