Summary: It was a perfect vacation spot for us in Senegal. The pool, the outdoor kitchen and the city and beach in walking distance was a ideal location to have the choice between: explore the area and the beaches or just chill the whole day at the house and by the pool. The owners were also very friendly, and fast with the responses when we had contact. Also the security man Maurice was super nice and a pleasure to meet.

Summary: This is our home away from home when we are at the beach in Senegal. We book it whenever we can. Having Maurice and Awa take care of us there is so great.

Summary: Beautiful lager home. Well maintained and spotless. Beautiful large pool. Maurice and Awa made our stay even better. My kids played outside with the local kids and begged me every day if they can go back. Walking distance to shops, bakery’s, and restaurants. Definitely a great place to stay with a large group or couple.

Summary: We just loved this place. It is even more spacious than it looks in the photos and very fresh, clean, and new feeling. Maurice and Awa were amazing hosts. Sometimes having a guard around can be a pain, but Maurice actually made our whole stay better! He was just available and helped us with different things and took amazing care of pool and garden. Awa really took care of us and her food was delicious. The only unusual thing is the outdoor kitchen--just something to get used to, a bit dusty at times. I'm sure it's nice having it outside during the hot season! That being said this is one of the very best places we have stayed in Senegal and we'll be back.

Summary: We (a family of four, kids 5 and 7 years old) enjoyed a 2-week stay in the comfortable, beautiful, yet simple house in June. The house has everything you need during a holiday and nothing you would fear your children could accidentally destroy - so it was just perfect for us! Congrats to the architect - the simple construction of the house is ideal for Senegalese climate. We couldn't take the kids out of the pool for hours ( the pool is perfect - not too small, not too shallow, not to deep) and our son learnt how to swim and dive just by himself whithin a few days while our daughter (7) mastered her skills incredibly! The house is located in the middle of the rural part of Saly, not in the district where most of the 'white' houses are situated which was a great advantage for us as we are not very fond of tourist centres:). You are close enough to the beach (within a walking distance or - if it's really hot - just get a private 'taxi' and be in the beach in 5 minutes, for a minimum fee plus a nice chance to chat with the driver) , you are also close enough to the stores (don't focus on the French supermarket with diary imported from France- there are local stores like 50m from the house where you can get everything needed for a Senegalese simple lunch! Try Senegalese rice, not Chinese!). When you leave the private heaven of the house (pool with always warm water due to the proper positioning toward the sun and always clear water thanks to regular work of Maurice) you step right into Saly's rural friendly community with children playing in the dust, goats ready to eat leftovers of your lunch, people working, praying or resting etc. I highly recommend the local tailor's workshop next to the house. We all returned with a totally new and colourful wardrobe made within a blink of an eye from extraordinary wax cotton batiks (get them in Mbour market and bargain hard:)). Very soon you feel a part of the community and enjoy the night street snacks (Ramadan) prepared by Saly's women and sold right outside their houses behind the corner. Speaking of food: Senegalese cuisine is incredible! Spicy and simple, made from the freshest ingredients (shrimps! fish! vegetables and fruits !). And Awa will prepare the best of it for you if you just tell her to cook like she would for her family. Awa is a talented cook and we still miss all the specialities we ate for 2 weeks. We send our kindest regards and thanks to Awa, Maurice and Zal -your are all great!
