Meadow View (4 Mill End) Cottage is a charming 17th Century semi-detached thatched worker's cottage on the Spains Hall Estate, a short walk from the village of Finchingfield, often said to be the most photographed village in Essex.
Downstairs there is a living room with huge inglenook fireplace (not operational), fitted kitchen and downstairs toilet. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (a double/ twin and a double) and shared family bathroom.
The cottage has its own private parking and garden with amazing views over the Finchingfield Brook valley and down to the village. The cottage was recently renovated to include timber floors on the ground floor, new kitchen, bathroom and carpets throughout. Meadow View also has an environmentally friendly low carbon Air Source Heat Pump heating and hot water system. Free fibre broadband wi-fi.
Pets accepted (max 2, £5/per/night - billed directly (not via VRBO) - after booking)
For stays over 14 nights we add an additional weekly cleaning fee of £40/week (billed separately, after booking, not via VRBO)

Summary: amazing cottage full of character.peace and quiet of the countryside and the wildlife in your own garden and only a short walk into the village of finchingfield with great food at the fox on the green.hosts were excellent and were close on hand for any needs and very friendly.for a long stay we could not have found better and are so pleased that we chose this cottage.

Summary: Perfectly clean, beautiful Environment, delightful part cottage, great garden and very interesting tour of beaver and biodiversity project also conducted by the estate. Highly recommend but note it’s not a large space

Summary: Sweet little cottage close to the village of Finchingfield. Really clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The rooms are on the tiny side with little space to open a suitcase but that’s the only downside. Overall it was perfect.

Summary: Immaculately kept cottage on outskirts of beautiful village ( a good 20 min walk or so, so would definitely need a car to get into Finchingfield itself and enjoy the pubs and restaurants. We had elderly parents with us and had driven over 3 hours so 5pm check in was really unusually late in my experience and 9am check out especially, on a Sunday, needs to be reconsidered as its just far too early. The rates are very high, so all things considered and had it not been for a family wake in the village we would have stayed elsewhere

Summary: Extremely clean and nicely presented especially the bedrooms. It’s very compact (basically half a cottage), so 3 of us was enough people and for us a couple of nights was long enough, but for a couple, the size would be fine. Lovely area with great walks & lots of village choices for food. Nice welcome pack was appreciated. Helpful owner/manager./ Small thing but it would be good to have more than one set of plates as we kept having to wash up & even though there is a dishwasher it’s not worth doing for 3 plates & glasses!
