Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Location is exceptional and Church was of interest.
Negative: Shower was very poor with minimal pressure, bathroom also has drain smell which needs addressing, payed an extra 30 pound for timber for the fire which was disappointing, not budgeted for. Parking was on the street 150 yards away which was also disappointing.
Summary: Very good Location for exploring.

Positive: A very well-equipped, snug little house in a beautiful place with wonderful views of the Malvern Hills. Real thought and attention to detail had gone into furnishing and equipping the house - for example, the remote control for the television ceased working but in the cupboard was a box of lots of spare batteries. Similarly plenty of tablets for the dishwasher. The property was warm and comfortable and - because the loo's downstairs - automatic low-level lighting comes on to guide you safely down the stairs and across the ground floor and back! Very welcoming owner and comfortable house made us feel at home from the outset.
Negative: One thing to watch is that the cottage is up a narrow path by the church flanked by yews. Tricky if you drive a Bentley. Fortunately we drive a Cinquecento...
Summary: Comfy cottage, convenient for Tewkesbury (one of our loveliest market towns) and Elgar country.

Positive: The property was very characterful and surrounding countryside beautiful. We loved the decor of the bedrooms and the nice big dining room table and roll top bath. The personal note left for us and treats in the basket were a nice touch and appreciated
Negative: 1. Although basically clean, it wasn’t quite up to standard. We had to clean high-traffic touch areas like fridge door handle, dishwasher handle, microwave door etc ourselves. The freezer had bits in so we had to place kitchen roll inside before placing our food in. The fireplace still had ashes in from previous guests. There was a mouldy squash in a fruit bowl in the dining room. 2. We were charged £15 for a bag of wood for the fire by the owner (who contacted us before our stay to ask if we’d like to make a bank transfer for it) but later found, when buying a second bag from the local garden centre, that the going rate is £7.50, which made us feel we’d been ripped off. 3. There is only a small two seater sofa in the sitting room, which is room only for one person if you like to curl up on it, or two people sat close together with legs on the floor. 4. Single beds were extremely soft: probably could do with being replaced. 5. There is a persistent bad drain smell in the shower so taking a shower isn’t a nice experience. Water pressure was a little too low also. 6. Blinds fiddly and very ineffective at blocking out the dawn light. 7. Despite all of the above, we loved the cottage and would have considered coming back… except for what happened on check out day. Check out is at 10am. Cleaner turned up at that time and told us off for still being there, telling us other guests were coming that day. She also didn’t like my (very friendly) toy breed dog. All very awkward: our bags were packed and we were just leaving as she turned up. We didn’t like being made to feel bad at the end of our holiday. Check in is at 4pm and so surely tell the cleaner to arrive at 10.30am and not before to allow some overlap, or at least ask her to refrain from making negative comments to guests.
Summary: Beautiful property, quirky and in a beautiful setting. Just let down by a few details

Positive: Pretty location; well stocked kitchen; all modern; lots of pillows on bed and soft towels; and quiet. Loverly views from patio.
Negative: Accepts dogs but then has polite notice saying they don’t go upstairs… which is their choice, but should be made clear prebooking. Hot water not that hot so bath can’t be filled. No pub within stumbling distance. Driveway up is very very narrow, so be an accomplished driver in reverse or roll your bags up the hill.
Summary: Lovely place just understand rules before you book.
