Our Ascent A-Frame Cabin is your perfect woodsy get-away! Comfortable living in a wooded setting - feels far away, yet you are still close to it all. Special things include amazing deck, kayak, outdoor games, outdoor dining area, proximity to lakes and other outdoor recreation, wood burning stove. The large back deck and yard are totally private.
This cozy cabin has modern updates. There is a full kitchen with dishwasher, full bathroom on main level and in loft, washer/dryer, and comfortable living area. The private deck is inviting in a treed setting. The yard has horseshoes and cornhole, as well as a hammock for ultimate relaxation. The living room TV is streaming only, so you can log-in to watch your streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc. The TV in the queen bedroom has streaming, as well. Fun hammock to relax in the upstairs loft bedroom!

LOCATION AND AMENITIES: The Forest Lakes area is 8 miles North of Bayfield, and 8 miles South of Lake Vallecito Recreation Area. Forest Lakes also has a playground and neighborhood lake for fishing - Lake Simpatico - with a walking trail around the lake. This home is appx 20 miles from downtown Durango and 50 miles from Pagosa Springs. There is plenty of dining, unique shops, and outdoor recreation in the surrounding area - including hiking, boating, skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, biking, hunting, hot springs, rafting and more. There is a neighboring home, but the decks on each home are private and do not face each other.
COOLING: Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.
NOTES:
During the winter months (Thanksgiving to March) access to the home requires 4WD or AWD.
There is a ring camera at the front entrance area.

Summary: The A frame cabin was adorable and so clean. My mom has a cleaning and organizing business and commented about how clean it was. It was even decorated with some cute fall and Halloween decorations. It's a bit of a drive to the cabin from the entrance of the community, but totally worth it. We were busy with lots of activities and sad that we actually didn't get to spend as much time at the cabin. It was stocked with everything you'd need as well. Definitely will stay again if we ever visit the Durango area!

Summary: Very nice small cabin in woodsy area, a little to close to the neighbors than we would have liked though. We did get to see some wildlife in the yard (deer). Overall enjoyed our stay for a quick weekend getaway!

Summary: We were looking for a cute place to stay while we took day outings to hike and sightsee, and the Ascent A-Frame Cabin was perfect. Our first day there, we did nothing but hang out at the cabin, reading, cooking, unwinding. This cute and welcoming space made it easy to just enjoy not going anywhere. Most mornings we enjoyed sitting on the back deck, drinking coffee. We cooked many of our meals in the kitchen and again utilized the deck and outdoor table for eating, chatting, and laughing. After long days of hiking, we were thankful for a hot shower and super comfortable mattresses. We had a wonderful stay and are thankful for the comfortable, clean, and cozy cabin. It was the perfect space for our girls’ trip.
