Lovely clean and comfortable holiday home only a short stroll to the beautiful Matapouri Beach. Open plan living area opens onto a outdoor BBQ area that is sheltered and private. Enjoy the heat pump for year round comfort. An outside fish filleting area and smoker is available for preparing your catch for dinner. A selection of board games and toys are also available for those rainy days.
Flat corner section provides plenty of parking for the car and boat.
Matapouri has lots to offer from relaxing coastal bush walks to close access to off-road pushbike tracks. A short walk along the Headland track provides stunning sea views and a beautiful bush walk leads to the iconic Whale Bay that is famous for its crystal clear waters or to Pebbly Bay where snorkelling is popular. The Mermaid Pools are accessible at low tide from the Northern end of the Beach.
A 5 minute drive South over the hill takes you to the Tutukaka Marina and shops or 4km north takes you to Sandy Bay Surf Beach.
Best suited for families or small groups. No tents and no Parties, thanks.

Summary: A very pleasant place, with comfortable living area, a TV, a reasonable kitchen, plenty of nice outdoor furniture, and a short easy walk to the beautiful beach and the shop. The outdoor shower was great, and although we didn't use it, there was beach and recreation equipment available in the shed. For us the only downside was no bedside tables or reading lights in the bedrooms, as we like to read in bed. The owner was very helpful and communicative, and the place was nice and clean. A really nice, low key and comfortable place to stay.

Summary: This bach is in a great location at the northern end of Matapouri and about 100 metres from the beach. Rachel, the host is very good and easy to communicate with. The bach is simple and a little basic but has some nice features - great outdoor shower, lovely lawn that's great for sports, great outdoor table, nice bbq and even a smoker. It's spacious with a good number of beds and has a box of Lego...just awesome for entertaining the kids. On the downside the bach was not as clean as we would have liked, and we had to wash glasses & cutlery. It needed a good sweep in spots. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and think Matapouri is awesome!

Summary: Great place for groups or families to stay - well equiped kitchen - outdoor living with bbq large outdoor table and warm outdoor shower. Gets the sun all day round out front. 5 min amble to beach.No surprise Matapouri was v busy over easter so not so quiet and plenty of neighbour action during our stay. It has certainly packed in a load more (less than humble) 'baches' since we were here 10 years ago! Though Whale bay and Matapouri remain the best ever for swimming.
