4 Bedroom House in True, Pipestem

The Retreat at Pipestem is a beautiful ten acre property, sitting quietly, hidden in the woods, right next to Pipestem State Park. Golf is only a 15 minute walk away, hiking trails start within minutes from the Retreat and all the activities the State Park has to offer are available to our guests as well. You can choose how active you want to be, from playing golf, to horseback riding, antiquing, dining, archery, a visit to the nature centre, to boating, hunting and fishing, or enjoy the quiet nature around you from the deck or the porch.
Our newest of three cabins, the Black Bear was finished late 2009 and incorporates all the things we learned from remarks our guests made. Simple things like a bedroom on the main floor, a Jacuzzi tub, cathedral ceilings, a loft with TV, an complete kitchen, a Jacuzzi tub, a three zoned air and heating system and a pellet stove as a fireplace to sit around with a life fire on a chilly evening in fall. There is a huge deck of 10 x 40 feet and a covered porch for when it's raining.
The cabin (and we can hardly call this a cabin anymore) is built of full logs and the wall in the living room and loft has windows from floor to the top of the roof. Inside, the cabin is fitted out with good comfortable furniture. A real log dining room and master bed room set, make this cabin complete.

Summary: This cabin is lovely and clean, seems bigger in person than in the pictures, with nice outside porches and woods to explore. The property manager was very responsive prior to our arrival, and when we notified her of a minor problem during our stay. We appreciated bathrooms on each floor as we were traveling with older relatives who did not want to go up and down steps frequently. Some things could be updated, e.g., air hockey table has seen better days, but we had a fantastic time.

Summary: Couldn't have asked for a nicer place or a better location -- easy bike ride to Pipestem State Park, quite wooded location, and all the comforts of home in this spacious Log cabin -- wifi, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, multiple levels so everyone had their own space. We'll be back.

Summary: Overall good experience. But-pots and pans in kitchen are disorganized and It doesn’t seem like it has been organized in quite sometime. Doors in house stick, especially one to the basement. Great deck but furniture is worn and really needs replaced. Table is wired to make it stay together. Trash shed was always full and hard to put trash in. Nice place that could use minimal improvements to make it exceptional.

Summary: Wonderful, clean, spacious cabin so close to everything at Pipestem State Park. Already planning our return trip. Air hockey table was a great hit and making s'mores at night.

Summary: The layout of the cabin was ideal for a small church youth group with girls upstairs in the loft, chaperones on the main level, and boys downstairs. The kitchen and bathrooms were adequately stocked and the cabin was very clean. Although it is about 40 minutes to Winterplace Ski Resort, the drive is convenient and easy. Pipestem State Park is adjacent to the cabin and we enjoyed driving through the park and seeing all of the deer grazing and watching a beautiful sunset from the observation lookout. I would love to return in the warmer months to enjoy the fabulous wrap around porch!
