Positive: We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here and also made friends with the birds - one in particular who was a very cheeky chappy (thanks for the bird seed). The calming music on arrival was a nice touch along with the selection of fruit and fridge items and we massively appreciated the underfloor heating in the bathroom and the fire all set up to light. Lovely seclusion and quietness in the Red Bower being furthest from the road. The 2.2km signposted walk is also nice to do and we got to see the kangaroos. The proximity of the accommodation to the coast is fantastic and the walk around Broulee Island was absolutely outstanding - we even saw blue whales in the distance. Overall very memorable!
Negative: We don’t have an Australian phone number (as we are overseas visitors) and therefore the TV reception was poor for the Aussie channels and had to revert only to Netflix. They have a mobile tower on site but that was of no use to us. Unfortunately we had to do some emergency work and remoting in online was extremely slow (the slowest we have had in three weeks so far (and because of not having an Aussie phone) which made working rather frustrating. The cabins are more for romantic ‘getaways from it all’ but when you do have an emergency you need decent WiFi in order to work. I do also feel there should be an option to pull the blind down in the bathroom. I know no one is really around but when you are on the toilet it would be good to have the option. Personally we are not fans of contactless stays and it would have been lovely to meet Mark and Sue but at the same time many people may prefer this set up. Other than those things we loved it all and would definitely stay again.
Summary: Fabulous experience overall!

Positive: The Bower is an exceptional experience for those looking for a private retreat. There is an attention to detail and quality which is quite uncommon, both in the facility design and in the ‘little touches’ which come automatically. If you want to be self contained, it is fully equipped with an excellent breakfast hamper, and if you prefer to travel for meals there is a very good guide to venues and areas of interest. Sue and Mark have been doing this for many years, and what the Bower offers has been finely honed. Equally importantly, nothing has been allowed to run down or wear out, as often happens.
Negative: There was nothing I didn’t like.
Summary: Tranquil retreat in an exceptional facility
