Originally accommodation for the grooms, this dwelling is part of the historic listed stable building at Longwood. It has a sitting room with open fire and a separate dining room. It opens onto a large courtyard. Compact, but surprisingly roomy, the decor is colonial NZ with touches of horse brass befitting its position in the stable block. Polished wooden floors and antique kelims add to the ambience.
Perfect for families, children love the upstairs loft reached by a steep ladder (adults please note) and the antique bunk beds. Alternatively it is a charming rustic cottage for a couple.
Extras: Linen (included); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave;

Summary: Lovely setting down a long drive. With cows in paddock. We stayed 2 nights 3 adults & 2 kids aged 7 & 10. The loft space for the kids was fun but it would not be suitable for younger children or kids who are clumsy. It has a narrow open ladder that wasnt fixed to the ledge. It freaked me out abit but the kids loved it. The heat pump was good but I expected more blankets or warmer duvets. No tea or coffee or milk provided which was disappointing. The spare room double bed was uncomfortable & needs a new mattress. In general it was ok for 2 nights but not much longer. It wasn’t cosy or comfortable.

Summary: We loved our stay. It was a step back in time and lovely setting out in the country. Our 10 & 11 year old boys really enjoyed sleeping in the loft with the tall ladder. There is lots to see and do in the area. Was great having a few days. Thank you.

Summary: This place was such a gem to find. My friends and I needed somewhere last minute to stay for new years and we came across Longwood, honestly the pictures don't do it justice. Such a stunning property and bach! The owners were so lovely and super hospitable. Would definitely recommend to any one.
