Other Policy Please note: we do have some pet friendly twin/double rooms and also the family room we allow pets. however due to allergies we do not allow pets into certain rooms, please check with the hotel before making a booking if you are bringing a pet. not doing this may result in your booking being refused on arrival if we have no rooms available for pets. a charge of £10 will also be added to the room rate, some indoor areas of the hotel are pet friendly, please check with staff. we also have a beer garden.

Positive: Everyone was really friendly, helpful and accommodating to our needs. The food was really good. There was a problem with the shower, but was sorted out promptly.
Negative: Shower base, silicone and some of tile grouting needs attention. View from window, the bins, but didn't cause any problem, the window was frosted and there was also a blind. Also the staff had made sure we had a room with walk-in shower even after altering our booking.

Negative: dinner service closed quite early at 8pm, we missed it by a couple of minutes (our fault, yes). We went next door to eat at the Bistro and liked it enough to go there for breakfast as well, so that 2 minutes cost the Hand some revenue.

Positive: The central location to Chirk was very good. Parking was good. View from bedroom was good.
Negative: We had the 'deluxe room' 🙄 The mattress on the bed was uncomfortable, it was old and the springs complained everytime we moved. The bathroom was quite antiquated but was clean. The stairs to the bedroom were rickety but some might say it was in keeping with the age of the hotel, however the carpets was in a poor state.
Summary: Midweek break.

Positive: It was available where everyone else was fully booked. It was centrally located in the village of Chirk with plenty of parking. The room was spacious (a family room), the bedding spotless.
Negative: I arrived soaking wet at about 8pm. Nobody helped with my luggage, no food was available either downstairs or via room service. The decor was old and tired, carpets and headboard stained. I had a challenge locking the door but managed eventually and the room faced the road which was noisy. The blinds were hard to shut in the bathroom and the glass not frosted so I could be seen. The water in the morning was lukewarm at best.
Summary: Good value for money. Decor clean but tired.
