Positive: This place is simply wonderful – it makes you want to come back! We stayed in a two-room apartment with a kitchen, which had everything we needed for cooking. We enjoyed everything, and our whole family really loved our stay. I especially loved the beautiful, well-kept garden with a variety of plants and flowers, where hummingbirds, parrots, and other lovely birds would visit. It was such a pleasure to enjoy the birds singing in the garden early in the morning while my children were still asleep. In the evenings, after a day at the beach, relaxing by the pool was absolutely perfect. I would say the garden is the real highlight of this place. The hosts are very caring and welcoming. They gave us all the information we needed about the island, and we also rented a car directly from them, which was extremely convenient. Although there is construction happening nearby, we didn’t hear any noise at all, so it didn’t affect our stay in the slightest. All in all, this was a truly relaxing and memorable stay – we can’t wait to return!❤️

Positive: De Octopus was the third stay of three for us on the island and we loved it. Being an eco-lodge, it was unique and the tropical oasis that Leo has built with many plants, birds and of course his pets is wonderful. The shared pool and surrounding area is quite small but perfect to dip and cool down. There is also a roof terrace where you can see the sunset. Leo is a fantastic host, he offered to drop us into the town one day for a reasonable fee and was also around to answer questions. Overall, de octopus feels like one family with a friendly atmosphere. We used the kitchen to save some money on a few meals, it has quite basic facilities but does the job. We had not read much about Boka Sami as an area before arriving but we thought it was great. It had a lot more locals than some of the more touristy parts of the island. There are a couple of cool restuarants like De Verse and you are a short drive from the supermarket and the roads into town or up the west coast to the best beaches.
Negative: The kitchen is good to have but its absolutely roasting in there when food is cooking! There is no electric kettle so it can take a while to get boiling water. Of course the heat can be a struggle with no air con but you can deal with it.

Positive: We loved the hammock on the front porch, the outside shower, the flowers in the garden that attracted the colibri and all different kind of birds, the pets. The hosts were nice and receptive to our requests, if you asked for their help they were happily helping. Our flight was delayed and they let us stay until later free of charge, that was very generous and it eased the stress of having an already long flight delayed. We rented a car with them and because we stayed for a longer period they picked us and dropped us off at the airport. There was a nice booklet in the house with loads of suggestions. Thank you for everything ✨
Negative: The common kitchen, the fact that we had to ask for clean sheets, which were not spotless and were not a material that help with the heat. Lack of AC, we suffered quite a bit in the first day after we arrived (mid May) but we got more used to it afterwards. We had a fan that helped a bit though.

Positive: We wanted to have a relaxing family holiday in the village we once lived in and we did! The hosts were very easy going and easy to reach and communicate with. We could cook our own meals, enjoy seeing the ocean from the rooftop terrace, easy parking, a nice little pool to cool down in after a day at the beach. The location was good if you love the nicer and less tourist packed beaches on the west side of the island. The animals were nice to have around and plenty of birdlife and lizards to keep us entertained. I can definitely recommend this place.
Negative: The area is under construction and many new places are being built. When driving up the Octopus that first night after a long journey it felt a little messy but once inside the grounds it’s a true oasis.
