Summary: We went as a family of 8. We knew there was not AC, but with only 3 stand alone fans, one couple was without a fan and the nighttime temps were above 85. The windows don't have screens and the bugs are plentiful. The location is ok, though the directions are tough. The management was kind enough to assist with the directions a couple of times. The home itself is big, but lacks neighbors, the washing machine doesn't work and we had no hot water for 2 nights. Also a power outage occurred roughly at 11 pm of the night and no emergency lighting of any kind in the house. The house is big, has 1 TV, nice kitchen. But lacks some of the basics: hot water for showers, screens in the windows or AC and a working washing machine as described in the ad.

Summary: The house is lovely and in a residential area so you need a car. We were unable to locate it with the driving instructions, but were met at the McDonald's for the short drive to the house. See driving directions below. The house is spacious and very well-equipped with toiletries and kitchen items. It's great for multiple or larger families (although the stairs could be unsafe for toddlers) because there are plenty of bathrooms and we never had a problem with running out of hot water or with water pressure. Be advised that the windows do not have screens (very typical of Italy) so you definitely need mosquito repellant. A rooster and the two dogs next door will wake you in the morning, but otherwise the house is in a quiet, safe location that's convenient to the toll road and to the town. Directions to the house: From Catania, take toll road towards Messina and take the Acireale exit bearing right on viale Cristoforo Columbo. When you get to the round-about, go all the way around and retrace the road (in the opposite direction) that you just travelled. Turn right immediately after the McDonalds. Bear left at the fork in the road (where there is a guy that sells pottery) and drive over the E45 highway. At the first round-about take the first exit on SP165. Turn left at the first street Giovanni Verga (there are a few left turns beforehand but these are residences) before the fork in the road. The street sign is located high on a pink wall and difficult to read. Drive to the end (round-about). Gated entrance. The house is about 2 minutes from McDonalds.
