Summary: 'La Source', the name of this vacation home is situated in a small village about an hour drive or less from the landing beaches and war musea. You have a lot of privacy in the large garden and because of the several trees you have enough shade on hot days. To keep the house cool, you can close the shutters for the windows (although the two upper loft bed rooms can get pretty hot under the sun). The interior of the home is cozy, although some items could use updating or TLC. A big plus was the contact with the owner. Mr. Thom Bertram is very friendly and helpfull. We were even greeted by him and his wife in a handwritten note. Those little things make you feel welcome. All in all it was a very pleasant stay at La Source! Pieter & Tanja (Holland)

Summary: We had a relaxing break in this comfortable and spacious cottage with beautiful gardens. Lovely surrounding area. We were able to explore Bayeux, Caen, Falaise, WW2 beaches and museums easily from the cottage. Just an issue with the drains towards the end of our stay that we were able to contact Tom about.

Summary: Superb family holiday, excellent location away from it all. Very quite little village that allows you to relax. Good base for D-Day beaches and surrounding area. Local villages are good for small shops however if you want bigger stuff you need to go further afield. Brilliant communications from the owner Thomas, couldn’t of been anymore helpful, so a big thank you for that. Will definitely be booking again in the future.

Summary: My wife, our three children and I enjoyed a terrific stay at this magnificent house. Nestled near a small town, South West of Caen in Normandy, the house offers a very spacious accommodation, well appointed and very well stocked with everything you could need. The main bedrooms are very big, one with ensuite. I loved waking up in the early morning, just as the sun was rising and flinging the windows wide open to catch the first cool breezes of the day on an otherwise hot week, and leaning out over the wide window sills to catch the fresh air. The house felt like home instantly and for all of our stay continued to exude a homely, friendly atmosphere. The garden is very large and was great for the kids to play in (including a very made-up version of boule with the set we found in the hallway). We have a 13 year old daughter, 11 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. They loved the garden and could play while my wife and I enjoyed sitting around the family-sized table on the large patio. We ate our meals at this outside table every day. The stairs up to the top bedrooms are steep but didn't cause any issue with our eldest two kids. The attic rooms were also hot, but again our kids didn't seem to mind. You could use the supplied aircon unit (which we didn't) but we found keeping all the curtains pulled during the day kept the place reasonably cool (it was a particularly hot week). The house proved to be a great base from which to explore the Normandy beaches, Caen, Bayeux and the surrounding area but we loved the house so much that it was also great just chilling and mucking around in the house and garden, sometimes playing with the board games and cards provided. Our first night was on Bastille day's eve and although we arrived rather late in the evening, the pretty local town of Aunay-sur-Odon was open and the streets were filled with locals celebrating this historical town and a wonderful fireworks show played out as we had our evening meal. The town is just a short drive away. We were 100% delighted and very comfortable in a well maintained and well stocked home. I'm a partner in one of Ireland's longest running online holiday home businesses and tend to be hyper-critical of the places I stay. Not in this case though. If you're a small family looking for the ideal place to stay in Normandy, look no further. I'm also giving Tom, our friendly host an open invite for a pint if he's ever over this neck of the woods :-) Mike & Ona
