Carp Lake House | The Pines on Cecil Bay: our home on the Carp River with Lake Michigan view

3 Bedroom House in Carp Lake

Our paradise away from home is located just off Wilderness Park Drive near the Straits of Mackinaw. Our two-story home has breathtaking views of Cecil Bay in Lake Michigan, freighters passing by the shoreline, and various waterfowl i.e. ducks, swans, and geese floating on the lake or down the river. Don't be surprised if you see Bald Eagles hunting in the Bay, beavers swimming in the river, and minks scurrying about the area.
You can kayak/canoe down the river to Lake Michigan and along the shoreline; fish in the river for Coho Salmon, Small/Large Mouth Bass, or trout; go swimming on the beach across the river or any of the other five public beaches all within four miles, or relax on the deck soaking up the sun. At night imagine the sound of your campfire while watching a magnificent sunset over Lake Michigan. Don't miss out on the night vistas with a sky full of a multitude of stars, make a wish on a shooting star, and if you are lucky you might catch a glimpse of the Northern lights (Aurora Borealis). You can take a five-minute drive to the nearby Headland's International Dark Sky Park to view the observatory and telescopes.
Come and enjoy what Northern Michigan has to offer. Our home is conveniently located between Mackinaw City and Wilderness State Park, an 8000-acre park that has great nature trails, sandy dune beaches, and a boat launch into Lake Michigan perfect for boats and jet skis. We are just 10 minutes from Mackinac Island ferries, many great golf courses, and fine dining all within 10 - 45 minutes located in Mackinaw City, Cheboygan, Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Cross Village, or along the route in the Tunnel of Trees. If you want to explore the UP then travel over the Mighty Mackinac Bridge to visit St. Ignace, travel to the Soo Locks (a little over an hour), Tahquamenon Falls (1.5 hours), Shipwreck Museum in Paradise (2 hours), or any of the other wonders our upper peninsula has to offer.
Our home has a master suite with a queen-size bed, daybed, full bath with shower, Jacuzzi tub, wet bar, and access to the deck. A loft bedroom with a queen-size bed and a private half bath with a third bedroom on the main floor with a full-size bed. The Livingroom has a queen-size hide-a-bed with another full bathroom on the main floor. For security, there are cameras outside on the garage side, side yard, and street side of the home. There are two other cameras to view the night sky and see auroras to be able to let our guests know if they are out. The camera on the deck is removed while we have guests renting it out to allow privacy. Due to allergies, we Do Not ALLOW PETS or SMOKING in the home.

Summary: The house, the property and the owners were more than 5 stars. The kitchen had everything we could have ever needed. The Picnic basket was a wonderful touch. I appreciate the communication from Chuck and Pat. I highly recommend this house to anyone considering vacationing in the area. The location was perfect for traveling the area. We visited down past Petosky up to Tahquamenon falls, Mackinaw island, to Cheboygan and even down to Gaylord. We saw the Bald eagles almost every night on the property. Had fire in the fire pit a few nights and star gazed whenever the clouds cleared out. A perfect location. You won’t be disappointed! Thanks to Chuck and Pat we finally saw the Northern lights.

Summary: The location was perfect. We loved being on the water and having kayaks available. There was also a trading post near by which was helpful for snacks and extra kayak rentals. We were disappointed that we found out a TV didn’t work as well as finding multiple dishes dirty. Also, the grill was very dirty and a couple of the grill tools were melted, which made it difficult to clean the grill. We would suggest to better check the property prior to new guests checking in. It was also strange that during the trip we received a message to turn off the outside lights because the neighbors said they have seen them on for two days. The house rules did say to turn off lights and electrical items that are not needed, but the message seemed oddly invasive. It didn’t help that there are at least 3 cameras on the house. It would be nice to list in the rental description that there are cameras. We may not have rented at this place had we known cameras are in place due to personal preference and privacy. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but feel it’s important to give feedback.

Summary: We had an amazing family vacation. The home was first off centrally located to so many activities. Not to mention you could walk right out your back door and fish, bird watch and listen to Lake Michigan. The home had everything you could ever need. Having 3 bathrooms was a extremely convenient and amply sleeping space for 8 adults. We would love to come back and vacation at this rental again in the future. Thank you for allowing us to rent such a beautiful home.

Summary: We loved the entire week that we stayed at the house: Swimming, fishing, kayaking, walking the beach, watching the stars, sitting by the firepit, reading in the hammock, doing puzzles at the table by the many windows. There was a day trip to Mackinac Island. And a day trip to ziplining at Boyne Mountain. And a breakfast trip to St. Ignace. It was the best!

Summary: Our stay was absolutely fantastic! The home was very clean, well appointed. You can’t beat the location, views, and proximity to Mackinaw City. Chuck was very responsive and was very quick to respond to a couple questions and also sent over local aurora borialis forecasts while we were there. LOVED our time at this home!

Summary: In 2022, we stayed here for the first time and we had a blast, fishing in the river, floating on tubes to the Lake, swimming at the beach, watching storms roll in, the Northern Lights. Two issues that impacted us last summer were swarming mosquitoes every evening and high heat in the home from a hot summer. This past July, we got to enjoy all the same things we loved from last summer AND with no mosquitoes and cool air when the house got a little warm after sunset! This home is in an incredible location with great amenities. The hosts are so helpful, kind, and ready to answer any questions. We have stayed in several homes off Wilderness Park Drive and on M-119, but this home on Cecil Bay has been our favorite! This house has everything a family could want or need for a great vacation.
