Positive: The house is wonderful and the rooms extremely comfortable. The location of the hotel is stunning being amongst the tea plantations beneath Lipton's seat. The pool has the most spectacular location overhanging the valley below with birds and monkeys in the canopy of trees overhead - unforgettable. Do use the hotel's 4x4 transfer service to reach and leave the hotel from Koslanda as the 'road' is 'challenging'. The thing which really makes this property special though is the staff who were so friendly and welcoming. Malinda and the team were so kind and created a quirky, relaxed, fun atmosphere. Thank you!

Positive: The location is exceptional, very remote but in the middle of the forest and tea plantations; it's an old colonial house, beautiful and authentic and the pool is gorgeous. Very nice and helpful staff
Negative: The food is OK could be improved...it's a bit pricy for the quality...maybe more fresh local products would be good

Positive: It was a very unique experience staying at the Planters House. The views, property and swimming pool were absolutely amazing. It is very remote and isolated, so great if that is what you like. There are some great walks from the property. The staff were very nice and the food was excellent. Highly recommended and a highlight of our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka.
Negative: For me, the journey to the property added to the experience, but my family were not so keen. It's a 45-minute ride in a 4x4 from the local village, up a very steep and bumpy track, with amazing views. This would have been good to know beforehand. There is a complementary 4 x 4 shuttle for check-in and check out, otherwise its 30 dollars. This isn't the Planters House fault - the "road" was damaged in a land slide, and the Government has not repaired it. However, you shouldn't let this put you off visiting this amazing place.

Positive: Beautiful house, immaculately clean, lovely super-helpful staff in an awesome location, away from it all in the hills. The remoteness is enhanced by the beautiful but bumpy approach through villages and tea plantations (build some additional time into your travel plans for this).

Positive: Stunning setting and beautifully restored. Amazing staff and food. Pool stunning.
Negative: A landslide has meant that what was a 15 minute journey from the main road, is now 2 hours long by jeep over very treacherous terrain. Come on Sri Lankan government - pull your finger out and get this road sorted so that it can service yhis wonderful hotel and bring you more valuable tourist revenue? Very short sighted view on this. They have even asked the hotel to pay for the repair to the public road. Such a shame because it has really made the hotel inaccessible. Amazing staff really tried to make up for it but it made teh trip very stressful with a young family (although they are resilient!) .
Summary: Wonderful but blighted by the journey.

Positive: Amazing amazing amazing view from the stunning pool. Room was pristine and bed very comfy. Felt totally remote and serene during our stay. Staff were super friendly and curry and rice was top notch. 4WD journey is 'exciting' but totally worth it.

Negative: The journey to the house was really tough. It took an hour in a jeep on the worst road imaginable. The driver was good but the road terrible. Ask to be met at Lipton Seat Junction it will save 15 minutes of great discomfort.
