Summary: Great choice if you like a cosy old English style in. Great staff and ample free parking (with restrictions) in the public car park at the rear. Good choice of beers for a cGreene King pub (but a superb micropub across the road.. sorry 🙄) Evening meal was excellent with food quality menu choices and attentive staff. Breakfast choices were superb, but I may have overeaten a little. Room was no doubt subject to listed building status as the 17th/18th century windows were thin and a little bit loud with traffic noise but you soon get used to it and it wasn't too busy a road. Very convenient to discover Ely, and I thought it was excellent value for money. Bed was really comfortable and varying types of pillows for the pickiest of pillow munchers. Tastefully decorated 14 hour access with key and lovely toiletries and tea and coffee. Stayed in hotels a lot worse for twice the price and I thought this was an absolute gem. Will definitely be the first on the list when back in Ely

Summary: Nice room with all modern facilities. Faced out the high street but there is virtually no traffic after 9pm or so, so not a problem. Excellent a/c in the room which was much appreciated because of the hot weather during our stay. Separate entry to the rooms so did not have to go thru bar. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment, only remark is that it only opens from 8am for breakfast which won’t suit anyone looking to get away early Recommended

Summary: The Royal Standard has modern newly refurbished rooms over the pub. These are surprisingly quiet and comfortable. We had a friendly welcome and slept very well. Good bathroom and comfortable bed and a really tasty breakfast to follow. We would definitely stay here again, particularly given the very convenient car park at the back.
