Summary: We stayed on the 3rd floor. It was clean and quiet. The room was a little dark, but the bed was comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. There were nice perks like coffee and tea available all day. We weren't able to try the teatime, but it looked lovely. The location was a short drive to the center of town.

Summary: Beautiful rooms, excellent service, and a delicious breakfast were just a few of the highlights of my recent stay at the Silver Fountain Inn. We selected this inn as it was in close proximity to the hospital where my husband was having surgery. Kim and her staff were most attentive and kind during this stressful time. We are so fortunate to have found such a lovely place with such caring innkeepers. Thank you!!!

Summary: We visited a friend in Durham and chose Silver Fountain instead of the Holiday Inn. What a joy! We arrived late, and when we opened the door, it was like walking into a dream! The decor and ambiance is so welcoming, historic, and gorgeous! We were very excited! Even nicer in person than the photos on the web site! The breakfast was plentiful and I thoroughly enjoyed the quiche and pear scone. I recommended it to our friend for other visitors, as well as for her to go for lunch or the murder mystery dinners! I had not noticed that the room I booked (Marguerite) the last available for that night, had its bathroom in the hall, not in the room itself. That worked out fine, but I would not have chosen it. The room was beautiful, quiet, and comfortable. We will definitely return!!

Summary: The Inn has changed ownership, and it shows. The internet service is very poor. The bed was hard and when we asked for brighter light bulbs for our bed side so we could read, the request was ignored. I asked to see the book that Pam the previous owner wrote about the Inn and enjoyed reading it, but later one of the staff took it away before I had a chance to finish it.

Summary: Property was pristine and absolutely gorgeous. Impeccably decorated appropriate to the style of the historic inn. Gourmet breakfast choices served with a smile and graciousness was the best i have experienced in 40 years of extensive travel!! Kudos to owner and employees. Don't even consider staying anywhere else in the Dover/Portsmouth area!
