Positive: This is a beautiful cottage. We had a brilliant family getaway. A very safe place to bring children and on the outskirts of a lovely Donegal village. The local people are very helpful and friendly. It’s near to some good beach’s, Killybegs and Donegal town.

Positive: The cottage is charming, with the mood set immediately by its rustic exterior stonework and sheep and chickens grazing on adjacent lots. Inside, the bedrooms are generous, the decor is a well-selected blend of country simplicity and antique, and I had completely forgotten about its wood-burning fireplace until the host thoughtfully reminded me by having a crackling fire waiting to greet us on check-in — a delightful surprise. As for location, it's so close to the center of Kilcar (with its landmark John Joe's Pub and highly regarded Studio Donegal woolens) that we easily walked there; the natural beauty of Salmon Leap and Slieve League were just a short drive away. We didn't want to leave!

Negative: I can't think of a single thing. What a treasure of a place.

Summary: For exploring Donegal, I can think of no better place to stay than the Spinner's Cottage.

Positive: Setting and cottage are lovely, wish we would have booked more time. Also it was nice to have coffee and tea available as we were traveling from oveseas

Positive: This cottage was amazing. Appreciated having two bathrooms. Beds and linens were lovely. The fireplace was a bonus. Close to a little village with pubs and a store. Close to Slieve League and not too far from Donegal town. We’d stay here again!

Negative: Initially we felt it was too far out. A long drive from Dublin. But after we arrived, we were happy to be close to nature and in a picturesque cottage. I felt like we were in the movie The Holiday :)

Positive: This was exactly what we wanted. A quiet, quaint cottage in the countryside. We are a group of 4 friends that are all new mums/mums of young kids. We opted for a quiet getaway to get some sleep and catch up with friends. A full working kitchen so we could do any meals, close to Kilcar village for the shop & close to other attractive amenities..whether that be walk along the beach or a pint. It is a beautiful part of the world and would highly recommend it to any friends or families that need some time to switch off.

Negative: We didn't have any complaints. I suppose the one thing to call out is that having a car would be convenient to get around the local attractions..

Summary: Quiet, peaceful getaway in a quaint Irish cottage..
