The Squirrels is tucked away in a peaceful woodland setting on a private road off a small country lane within walking distance to open heath & woodland of the New Forest yet a short drive from the village.
This pleasant detached cottage comfortably sleeps four adults and a child in 3 bedrooms and is the perfect base for those looking to explore the diverse landscapes of the New Forest National Park & the Coast. There is access into the forest from the house either via the lane or private road,
The Squirrels was converted into a home in the 1950's from a stable block and has a sheltered south facing garden, surrounded by trees. A grey squirrel visits the garden and hear an owl among other wild life & the ponies occasionally wander past the house, but more often seen in the forest.
The Idyllic village of Woodgreen has ponies and donkeys freely wandering around the village lanes and on The Green. There is a good local pub and an award winning community village shop and post office. As well as a number of other good pubs a short drive away in the surrounding villages.
The riverside town of Fordingbridge lies just four miles away, with a choice of shops, pubs and restaurants, while Ringwood and Salisbury are also close by. Within a 35 minutes’ drive are the cities of Bournemouth and Southampton, each with something different to offer. Closer to the cottage there is a choice of woodland or open forest walks, cycling, golf, water sports and other outdoor activities.
The property benefits from a fully enclosed south-facing, sunny woodland garden with garden furniture & is ideal for a BBQ. Car parking for two cars can be found to the side of the house.
Dogs are welcome by arrangement.

Summary: Lovely place to stay, so many walks and cycle rides from the door step. We walked to the villiage pub one night, great food. Its a 30 min walk each way (with kids). Cotrage is well equipped and a nice secure garden on a very quiet road.

Summary: Nothing fancy but comfortable and cosy for two adults. Need to take the car to get anywhere. Great eating place 1mile away ( Horse & Groom)

Summary: We love the new forest and the squirrels cottage is one to add to our list, with lots of great walks on the door step. Had some tasty food at the different pubs around the area, none of which were in walking distance as the local pub was just over a mile away which would have been an easy walk in the summer months (not November). The local shop had a large variety to choose from. Angela was very friendly on arrival and helpful in explaining everything down to walks and the running of the cottage, also on the other end of the phone for any questions. We are definitely going back to The Squirrels Cottage at Woodgreen

Summary: The property has everything we would want and more. Also, it was perfect for our 3 dogs. Homely and delightfully characterful but easy for us to keep clean during our stay. We loved being tucked in well away from roads, especially busy ones. If you like walking and animals, you are straight out onto the forest and even in November the beauty is exceptional! Very cosy hunkering in during the evening. Lots of games and books provided. Some local pubs too if people prefer. We decided 3 dogs were rather too many to take along, but we have enjoyed a few good meals in the past. The kitchen at The Squirrels is set up really well with plenty of space and a good-sized table for eating at. We always love our stay.
