Summary: We've just spent a wonderful two weeks at Les Tachats as a party of four, two couples, renting both the cottage and the studio. The properties are ideally located with a decent sized supermarket a 10 minute walk away and a choice of restaurants only a five minute drive away. Sheila and Kevin were perfect hosts. Their knowledge of the area was so useful and we visited some lovely towns on their recommendation. They also recommended some lovely restaurants and even made reservations for us. We took advantage of the Friday BBQ both weeks and thoroughly enjoyed their food and company. Kevin's bread and Sheila's desserts were some of the nicest we have eaten. Blessed with beautiful weather for the whole two weeks, we spent most of our time relaxing in the lovely pool area and gardens. It was the perfect holiday and we all agreed that we would love to return.

Summary: This property really ticked the boxes for myself and my girlfriend. Full of character, a pool just a few steps from the front door, and an absolutely delightful english lady in charge of the place. Temperatures from 23-30degrees when we were there, so the brilliantly kept pool was used and much appreciated. Then every night we dried off and lit the BBQ to enjoy an array of locally sourced meat and other stunning produce. We cant recommend this place highly enough and wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend to close friends and family. Thanks for letting us stay.

Summary: We have just returned home having spent 9 days in this most tranquil of locations, the Studio was well appointed, the gardens and pool to be enjoyed. Sheila and Kevin have created a lovely oasis, they were charming Hosts and could not of been more helpful, the welcome pack much appreciated, the Barbecue and Kevin's bread all a lovely touch. It is a beautiful area, so much to see and do and we especially enjoyed our walks into Hautefort via the alternative route just enjoying the wildlife, and the peace and quiet of the area, yet the Village, Chateau, Supermarket, Restaurants all nearby. We loved it thank you both.

Summary: To say that our stay in Hautefort was fantastic would be an understatement. I travelled with my husband and our two kids (7,5) to this lovely part of France. I was worried that the studio apartment would be dark and musky but it was bright, inviting, cool, and quiet. It was so clean and welcoming. The owners had a bottle of wine, cheese, bread, butter, milk and juice waiting for us on arrival. The grounds are gorgeous! The garden is amazing and the pool area and playground were used constantly by my kids. The owners were helpful and friendly. The night market in St Agnan that they recommended was a real highlight of the trip. I would also highly recommend dinner the owners offer for a fee. It was definitely the best meal we had in France (and that is saying something!!!). At night the studio was dark and quiet. We slept like logs. Booking this beautiful and relaxing property really made our trip. I would recommend this property to anyone and everyone.

Summary: Beautiful setting with lovely gardens and cows in the adjacent fields. Amazing sunsets. Well appointed studio apartment on bottom floor of converted chateau worker's cottage. When we were there we had the place to ourselves as the upstairs cottage was not occupied at the time. Sheila and Kevin made us so welcome and we particuarly appreciated the lovely welcome pack of baguette, juice, milk, cheese, butter and wine. The pool (which was well kept and clean) was used most days as we had such wonderful weather. Ideally situated for discovering the wonders of the Dordogne with a supermarket 5 minutes walk and the lovely village of Hautefort with its chateau about 20 minutes walk. Would definitely recommend this as a lovely place to stay in the Dordogne.

Summary: We had a lovely welcome from Sheila who was the perfect hostess throughout our stay. The pool and large garden/play area were a huge hit with the children - likewise the sun-trap pool area was great for the adults! The Studio was well equipped and had all we needed for the week - and the family upstairs were really great neighbours! Thursday night in St Agnan is a must (apparently during the summer holidays only). For a family of four we'd recommend booking the upstairs gite for more room and even better equipped - however as it wasn't available we booked the studio and still had a great holiday. Well located for exploring the Dordogne, we particularly enjoyed a day of canoeing from Vitrac.

Summary: On arrival Sheila came out to meet us and gave us a guided tour of Les Tachats our home for 14 days. Not only was it spotlessly clean and well stocked there was also a fantastic welcome pack from our hosts. The pool was abused due to the fantastic weather as were the multiple sunbeds. The property is close enough to the local bars and restaurants to enable us to also take advantage of the low Euro and fill up every night. All in all this was one of the best, most relaxing holidays that we have ever had. I very highly recommend a stay here if these are also your requirements. Many thanks Kevin and Sheila Warren & Christine Harwood

Summary: This was our second stay at Les Tachets and, although we have spent many many holidays in France, this is the first time we have returned to the same property. Sometimes the passage of time (it was four yeas ago that we last visited) can give a glow to a particular experience, fuelled by happy memories perhaps of places visited, that is not sustained by a revisit. The opposite was the case at Les Tachets. We had forgotten how spotlessly clean everything was, how the swimming pool sparkled, how everything we needed just happened to have been provided. We had forgotten the wonderful welcome with a bottle of wine and Kevin's fabulous bread. We had forgotten how Sheila and Kevin manage to be available whenever needed yet completely unobtrusive and we had forgotten the sense of total peace and rest. The view from our patio was as splendid as we remembered, the lovely grounds where you can wonder in Sheila's lovely garden, with the bee hive and willow trees, and the snugness of our little house at the end of the day was exactly as we had sustained in the mind's eye. We have never stayed in a gites anywhere where you can order dinner for the evening (home prepared just ready for the microwave), bread (still warm) for breakfast in the morning and a barbecue at the big house on Thursdays - not compulsory but highly desirable. The stars of the show are of course Kevin and Sheila who are perfect hosts but behave like you have known them for years by performing those little acts of kindness and thoughtfulness that only true friends do - and without fuss or ceremony. Recommendation? We have sadly been profligate in our recommendations to friends and relatives, acquaintances and strangers and suspect that next time we may find this glorious spot unavailable for our next visit.
