Summary: The only criticism I could make is over the evening meal. We had crusty bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar but there was not enough oil and vinegar. My steak was supposed to be medium but was more like medium rare. That said it was fine.

Summary: The Talbot is in a fabulous location, but is showing its age, with parts of the hotel needing a good clean or lick of paint. There is nothing major that is wrong, but when you arrive, and the person on reception is typing and carries on typing for a long time, finishes his work and only then says hello. Everything is OK, but it could be fantastic.

Summary: They charge a whopping £124 for this state. It had a musty smell in the room as well, I wouldn’t stay here again! It was old and tired, needs completely renovating. Extortionate price, for what you get!!

Summary: Excellent service on arrival at reception. Room and hotel generally in need of refurbishment- it looks a little shabby: e.g.net curtains badly in need of a wash, badly frayed; shower attachment and knobs varnish peeling off and sealant/grouting in need of repair. Kettle half full of water and grubby. A general deep clean wouldn’t go amiss. A parking charge on top of a three figure overnight charge not expected.

Summary: Quaint and stylish, comfortable room. Staff very helpful, but beware parking charges on top! Food good quality but a little expensive.

Summary: This could be such a wonderful hotel, it has a great location, character. There is nothing to worry about, it is an OK hotel. The rooms are OK, but getting tired and in need of a refurbishment. The reception staff are great, although you do sometimes have to hunt them down. The food in the restaurant is OK.
