Positive: The pub/hotel has been extensively updated to a high standard. It combines the old with the modern and should be excellent . The staff try their best.It is in a quiet village location but accessible to/from main routes.
Negative: The plumbing. The bathroom had random sewage smells ( due to the toilet waste pipe being ineffectively sealed with blue roll rather than plumbed in correctly). On our first night we had no hot water (due apparently to the immersion heater in our tank not being switched on) so no showers. On the second morning we had scalding hot water only to find the shower temperature valve did not work ( the staff could not solve the problem) so a second day without a shower

Positive: It’s a beautiful place with a lovely riverside location. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable and we had everything we needed to enjoy our visit. The coffee machine, complimentary water and toiletries were perfect and the bed linen and towels were clean and comfortable. We didn’t visit the bar or restaurant this time but it looked lovely and staff were friendly.
Negative: The only small snag was that there was a room opposite ours that was used by, I am presuming staff, quite late (around 11/11.30pm) both nights and when accessing the room, the doors would slam shut and as a result, our door shook too. There was keys jangling etc and moving things around so perhaps a storage room - it was enough to wake us all up which was a shame.
Summary: A lovely stay in a quiet and peaceful location.

Positive: the bed was comfy and the riverside location was pretty
Negative: unfortunately the hotel has been refurbished in a way that had no charm or character, and felt on a par with a basic business hotel - they could have made much more of it, especially with its lovely setting. The fake grass on the terrace was particularly poor. It was priced as if a boutique country inn but styled like a premier inn. I didn't try the food, as I opted to find somewhere with more character to eat - but that said it did seem quite busy (i was there on a saturday night) - so I guess it must have appeal, just not for me sorry
Summary: pricey for what it is, wouldnt go back
