Positive: Restaurant and bar area were lovely and most of the staff were helpful - The night porter on our second night staying there was extremely helpful. Food in restaurant was lovely when it eventually arrived . Rooms had a large fan which was very welcome in warm weather and with no air conditioning. In the building .
Negative: The bed the room was in two halves and not locked in place - when fixed, there were nail clippings on carpet from a previous occuptant !! The carpet had not been vacuumed thoroughly, and there was dust everywhere. The paint on the walls in the room has seen better days , is badly marked, and is tired looking . There were tea and coffee making facilities but no cups to drink out of - had to request them at breakfast .Also, there was no water in one of the rooms the first night, and again, i requested it but did not materialise at all, and neither was it replenished in the second room. The bin in the bathroom of my mother's room had not been emptied from the previous occuptant- it was full of food waste and can only be described as disgusting - the smell was horrendous.Total chaos - no management, computer was down , coffee machine wasn't working, card machine wasn't working at a time also . The man in charge of breakfast did his best, but he had only started working there earlier that week !! At check out, we were asked to pay again - even though all was paid in advance before arriving but was sorted quickly when this was explained. All in all, I was very disappointed with our stay. It's such a pity as the location was good for the wedding we were attending nearby.
