Bedroom 2: 2 x Single (3ft) Beds Ensuite: Bath, Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Enclosed patio with garden furniture. One small dog welcome (must be kept on a lead). Parking adjacent. No smoking. Please note: Unfenced riverside orchard garden.. These two superb barn conversions can be found set on a working dairy farm in the quaint Cheshire village of Huxley. Watermill Cottage (E4908) is set out over one level and holds an idyllic riverside setting, with extensive countryside views from its private and peaceful patio area. Swallow Barn (ref UK37055) has a wonderfully unique design with a mezzanine bedroom, heavily beamed interior and sociable open plan layout. Both have been stylishly furnished with modern country décor and have everything needed for a warm and comfortable stay.
The surrounding Cheshire countryside means lovely walks are available direct from the door, and a traditional food serving pub is just 1 mile down the road. Boasting 40 flavours of ice-cream is ’The Ice Cream Farm’ which is a mere 5-minute drive, and Beeston Castle can be reached in around 10 minutes. The village of Huxley is just 8 miles from the wonderful historical city of Chester, where you’ll find the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain. Delamere Forest, Carden Park and Oulton Park Circuit are all around a 20-minute drive and the city of Liverpool and Albert Docks can be reached in under an hour. Finally, for a change of scenery, the North Wales coast is around an hour’s drive. These properties (refs UK37055 and E4908) can be booked together to accommodate up to 6 guests.

Summary: The cottage was spotlessly clean. Great hot showers in both bathrooms. The outside area is fantastic, lovely grazing cows right at our doorstep. The stream outside is lovely too. Plenty of room for a small family (plus a dog!) Location really handy for being close to Chester but so private and peaceful. Heather let me daughter feed some of the new born calves on the farm which was a really nice thing to offer. We loved it at the cottage and will love to be back at some point! Summary: We enjoyed our stay at Watermill Cottage. We found the accommodation spotlessly clean and comfortable. The owners were very friendly and the cottage is very well equipped. Thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet and watching the birds (including a daily river visit by the Heron). This is an ideal base for exploring the Chester area (which was new to us). Would recommend a visit to Chester (we used the excellent Park and Ride). Would also recommend a visit to Conwy, North Wales. Only slight issue for us was the description mentions lovely walking from the door. We asked about walking to the canal mentioned but were told the path was "too muddy". A pity for us as we enjoy walking. Otherwise a very enjoyable holiday. Thanks.
