Positive: The location was perfect for access to escal plaza. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, including the kitchen and waiting staff. The shared bathrooms and onsens were clean and enjoyable after a days skiing.

Negative: The ryokan style rooms were lovely however were cold to arrive to, but perfectly comfortable after 10 minutes with the space heater on.

Positive: We has an amazing time ! The location is 5 mins walk from escal plaza bus stop and 5 mins to the ski slope Groyu. We really appreciate the host, who helped us with information before we arrived and we followed the instructions and arrived safetly. The japaneese breakfast was traditional, tasted amazing and it was enough to kick start for skiing. There are some good restaurants nearby, good coffee and ski rental. This is a traditional ryokan, hence they provide with good mattress but you sleep on the tatami floor, we slept very well. Thank you very much to Keira and the team for offering us an amazing time, we felt like home!

Positive: -We especially liked the friendliness of the host, who was helpful and kind to our young son. -The location just next to the ski slopes and rental shop was ideal. -The inn was good value for a family ski trip.

Negative: -The lack of private lavatory, washbasin etc was a bit inconvenient, but not a huge issue. -When booking I had thought we could just turn up at the restaurant without booking and pay a la carte, but this was not the case. The details on Booking.com may have been a bit unclear, but we were able to dine at local restaurants so it was not a problem, although there did not seem to be many options in the area for breakfast.

Summary: Tokiwa-Tei is a simple, friendly and good value inn for a ski trip with family or friends.
