Quaint, cozy, rustic, romantic, Tree House Cabin is all of these things, in a magical Colorado setting overlooking Lake Vallecito. One of only a handful of lake-accessible properties, this charming cabin is a rare gem and a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Take in views of the lake from the deck, catch a peek of some local wildlife, or curl up on the couch or hammock with your favorite book. And of course, enjoy the multitude of outdoor activities this area is known for.
The cabin is well-appointed in a studio-style layout, with a Queen bed in the bedroom nook, a galley-style full kitchen, a full bath, and a living room with an original stone-stacked fireplace. There are hammocks outside facing the lake and a grill on the front deck. Bring your furry family member to enjoy a vacation with you!
BED CONFIGURATION:

LOCATION: In the heart of the Lake Vallecito recreation area, you are near the marina, hiking, biking and ATV trails, fishing, hunting, ice fishing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling - the San Juan wilderness area is at your doorstep! Vallecito also has a few restaurants and general stores. Appx 25 miles to downtown Durango and 50 miles to Purgatory Ski Resort.
PETS: This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay). Pets must be crated if they are left home alone.
Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.
Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).
Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding, etc) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours, etc) activities.
Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time of the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any such changes will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer

Summary: Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cabin was clean, everything we needed on hand. The best thing about our trip was easy access to the lake! We did have a major disappointment, with no follow through. Upon arrival our refrigerator was making a very loud throttle noise in the freezer. It was so bad I reached out by text to our contact, with a video and everything. They indicated that since it was the end of the day it was too late for a fix, but that a "CRITICAL work order" had been submitted to their maintenance for the next day. We were gone until midday, stopped for lunch with no one yet arriving. At the end of the day after 5:00 - no one ever showed up. My husband was able to silence the loud noise - so that we wouldn't have to keep our food in the cooler, again while sleeping. When I reached out to the contact, Holly informed me that she could send me a screen shot of the critical work order. This is not the response I would have liked, since we have nothing to do with how Vrbo handles maintenance critical issues for the cabin.

Summary: This is a rustic cabin, these are little tips that are inexpensive and could make your guests a little more comfortable, 1, access to Lake is very steep and somewhat dangerous 2, propane barbecue grill only one burner is working , grill was rusty and needs a barbecue cover, 3. hammock is filthy,4, property to the east is a junkyard, 4, bathroom is dangerous, Bathtub slip mat is worn out and slipper. They’re not having a mat at all.5, Light fixture in bathroom missing light bezel lightbulbs are exposed,6, fireplace Has existing logs from this winter half burned,7, linens and towels worn, 8, pots pans, silverware, and kitchen utensils dirty. with a 5 inch cutting board? ,9, paper goods, such as toilet paper, paper towels, and other accessories very low-grade dollar store products

Summary: The cabin has view of the lake through trees from the porch and and dining area window. I loved the sound of lapping water on the shore and heard geese. The cabin had what we needed, and I did not mind washing dishes by hand. The decor was cozy and quaint befitting a cabin. My husband did not like the uneven floor but I was not bothered. The bed was very comfortable, very hot water from tap, and nice aray of cooking utensils. One does need to walk down stone and dirt steps to reach wooden steps to access the porch where the entrance is. Nice touch of having hammocks hung for use, patio chairs to look down on lake, and comfortable porch furniture also facing lake. There was a steep,winding path to the lake . I would recommend locating the cabin in daylight, we had difficulty finding it as there were lots of dirt roads. But if you follow the written instructions that helps.

Summary: We had a great relaxing time at the home. We got there pretty late and had some trouble finding it but found it fairly quickly. The instructions were spot on we just couldn’t see anything at night. The home was perfect for just us and the area was so peaceful. We’ll definitely stay here again.
