Clean and bright tropical home with use of Indian River docks just two hundred yards down the sandy road. Use the docks for fishing, enjoying sunrise and sunset or tying up. You can bring your boat(less than 3 foot draft. We have a couple of kayaks for your use. There is room to park your boat trailer or RV if you choose ( no hookup).
10 minute drive to uncrowned barrier island beaches. Try some surfing at Sebastian inlet or shelling along the beaches of Wabasso and Vero Beach.
Grocery store, vegetable stands and restaurants just a mile away. More bars and restaurants along the river in Sebastian just a two miles north.

Summary: Our time at Mermaid Cottage was amazing! The property is beautifully landscaped, quiet, and serene. The dogs lived their best lives chasing lizards in the yard and watching bunnies and birds on the other side of the fence while we lounged on the front porch. I loved that the dolphins visited every morning while I was fishing from the dock. Cheryl is fantastic and responded quickly to our messages. We are already looking to book again.

Summary: We're from Indiana - if you've ever hunted mushrooms in the spring, you don't divulge your secret spots. That's exactly how we feel about this property! Lots of Old Florida charm with plenty to see and do, Mermaid cottage and the Sebastian area always make us feel like we are at home! We have visited several beaches and restaurants nearby, attended local festivals, concerts, and events at the city and state park. But our favorite way to enjoy this location is at the Indian River waterfront watching beautiful sunrises, enjoying the many birds and water creatures, fishing, and watching KSC launches from the pier. The cottage kitchen has cookware and utensils, spices, tableware and appliances for meal prep. With 2 bedrooms/2 full baths, Mermaid cottage nicely accommodates 2 couples or a family. Beds are comfortable, linens/towels are provided, and there is a porch overlooking the owner's lovely tropical garden. Cheryl is a premier hostess who truly wants her guests to relax and enjoy all that this property has to offer! We highly recommend a stay at Mermaid cottage!

Summary: This is our third time here in 4 years and the only reason it's not 4 out of 4 is because I waited to long to book in 2021 and our dates were gone. This cottage is quiet and is fully fenced providing an excellent and safe atmosphere for our dog. So obviously it is pet friendly and we were made welcome for our 2 week Christmas stay. There are many good restaurants all less than a 10 minute drive away and Publix grocery store about 5 minutes away. A 2.5 minute walk will take you to the end of the lane, a small sand beach and a couple of docks where you may get a dolphin sighting or SpaceX taking off 46 miles to the north. Bring your paddleboards and kayaks and enjoy. While you're here you can go for an airboat tour in the marsh and see Florida wildlife at its best. Alligators, Osprey, Egrets, Herons so many species of wading birds and water fowl that I've lost count. Go over to the Island to the State Parks and beaches or rent watercraft at one of the many companies on the waterfront. I will be back again!

Summary: The property was very pleasant. Nothing fancy, but it met our needs. We usually do a lot of cooking when we stay at a VRBO, but not this time. But if we had wanted to, the kitchen was amply stocked with whatever items you might need. Nice items. Some places we stay the kitchens seem to be stocked with things that the thrift store threw away. Not the case here. The yard was filled with various trees and plants that were that made it feel park like. Our dogs loved playing ring around the obstacles with the lizards, and were downright obsessed with the little marsh rabbits that inhabited the area. Fortunately the yard was fenced so we could let the girls frolic without fear of them wandering off. The neighborhood was very quiet, no loud parties or roaring cars. The best part of the property was the bed. Exquisitely comfortable! Finally, Cheryl was very responsive to our needs and pleasant to talk to. Verdict: We highly recommend it and will stay there again the next time we visit.

Summary: Typical river stay. Place was very clean and had everything you needed for a nice stay. Very hot in Florida (hotter than usual 😂), difficult for the AC to keep up, first day it’s was 84 inside the home, took 8-10 hours to get the temperature to 74 (lowest it got). Wife has asthma but we made it through. Very good communication with property owner, lives down the private road on the River front. Very noisy in the AM as the landscape folks were working every day of our stay. Sebastian was fantastic, nice places to eat, near the causeway over to the ocean and to Vero beach. Overall satisfied, but a little rustic for us.

Summary: The property this rental sits on is absolutely gorgeous. There are lots of palm trees along with tropical plants of various types. The yard is completely fenced in so you can safely leave your pet to roam outside if you choose. While there, we walked to the dock to watch the sunrise over the water (it's breathtaking I highly recommend it). The beaches are beautiful and the local restaurants are amazing. Cheryl is a wonderful hostess and treats you like family. Everything you need to enjoy your stay is inside the rental. It's really cute and very clean!
