Summary: Troutbeck did not disappoint. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. It was cold in the evenings and mornings but the rooms had electric heating pads to make the beds warm and comfy. The big hearth fires were a nice place relax. Good menu selections and breakfast buffet.

Summary: I used to stay at Troutbeck back in the 60s as a child and this was a nostalgic trip for me. For the most part everything seemed to have been beautifully maintained with the top rooms having had an upgrade - all seemed brand new and the bed was soooo comfortable. The staff were beyond friendly and helpful and even gave us a free upgrade. I love that they honour Major “Mac”, who I remember well, as he developed the dam, pine forests, and the hotel, and gave support and upliftment to the local community. The road to Nyanga from Harare is good, and I encourage anyone thinking of going to do it! They need foreign visitors and it’s such a wonderful experience. The lake and World’s View are magical.

Summary: Only Leonard and Xavier were good at customer service. The manager called Roy is young and inexperienced. No hot water for two nights despite Alerting the duty staff. It is no longer that Troutbeck we used to know back in the days.

Summary: The hotel and the town itself was absolutely lovely. Wouyhave preferred a bigger selector food and drink options but we were staying mid week so maybe it would be better at the weekend. Shout-out also to Froggy Farm in Juliasdale which makes an excellent place to stop on the journey to the resort.
