Summary: The villa is in a wonderful , beautiful and convenient location. The attached 3 story house had good, comfortable space as advertised to gather with family including a 10 month old baby. However, the kitchen amenities were very basic as were the beds and bedding. The pool is in a beautiful setting, but the bugs were so bad we were not able to enjoy it. The air conditioning was weak and not really adequate for Tuscany in July. The property manager, Allessio, was responsive to the plumbing and air conditioning problems, but it was disappointing to have had to deal with them at all. We did have a wonderful time exploring the nearby towns in Tuscany and enjoyed many good meals dining at the local restaurants in San Giovanni d'Aso and Montesi. We would love to return to beautiful Tuscany in the future.

Summary: Our stay at Podere Ampella was overall, okay. The property location in the middle of Tuscany farm land was amazing. Although the Villa we stayed in was a more modern build the villa was in a little disrepair. The bed mattresses were extremely hard and there was a chair in the sitting area that had a broken leg. Otherwise the villa was well equip and the property manager was helpful in directing us to a great local winery (Innocenti).

Summary: Overall exceedingly positive experience. Landlord and her assistant Laura were punctual, helpful, and responsive. The property is clean nicely landscaped and in an area that is just enough off the beaten path, and is a good value. The house has all the necessities, and my only suggestions would be to update the mattress in the downstairs bedroom and update the cutlery for the kitchen.

Summary: This property is surrounded by beautiful landscape, and the doors and windows open straight out into it. We enjoyed our coffee in the morning and our wine at night outside on the patio. It was in a great central location between Montepulciano, Pienza, and Montalcino. Having access to the store in St. Giovanni was helpful. The management staff was helpful and checked in on us. This is a great place to stay if you want to be in the heart of Tuscany for a few days.

Summary: Lots of room for our 6 kids and us to stay, spread out and enjoy the Tuscan scenery, food and weather. Podere Ampelle was fantastic. When you think of Tuscany, you will picture this place in middle of Tuscan farmland with beautiful scenery, quaint little towns on tops of the mountains, fantastic local food and wine. There was a very nice large community pool that our kids took advantage of. Laura was an awesome help in coordinating a birthday dinner for our 14 year old and ordering a cake. The restaurant she booked for us was just fantastic and the people were so friendly and nice. Laura made us feel very welcome and important to them. We would definitely come back here and are already making plans for a future visit.

Summary: The property consist of several houses. Family owned and operated. Owner is very prompt for addressing all questions. Pros: Breathtaking scenery, serenity, rural settings, remote, spacious house, privacy, very helpful and fast-responding owners. Cons: there are no cons but the things to be aware of. See below. Amenities: Villa Montisi house where we stayed has a separate driveway and private pool. House is one storey, clean, well-kept. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils, cookware, dishes, towels. Fridge, dishwasher, gas stove. Clothes washer in one of the bathrooms is small and slow, but helpful. Bathrooms are OK, tight on the counter space, like everywhere in Europe, hairdryer supplied. Shower drain kinda slow and with shower base being shallow it is easy to overflow and flood the floor, so need to be careful. Outside there is a pool (cold but swimmable), bbq grill, 8 seat table, several lawn chairs and loungers and a tent. WiFi - slow, unreliable and spotty. WiFi reception seems to be better outside rather than in the house. I had to use my LTE cell (thanks Rogers Roam Like Home) for 50% of my internet need. All doors and windows have no opening window-panes to keep air in with door/window closed. One bedroom has walk-out doors but no windows. We were afraid to keep doors/windows open at night and had to run A/C instead, which was a waste of nice cool fresh nigh air. That was probably my biggest disappointment. Also, there are no nets on window/doors to keep bugs out, so they creep in, especially at night, when lights are on. Pill bugs, house centipedes and large spiders are no strangers inside, and while harmless, may make you cringe. There are few mosquitos, horseflies and gadflies outside at dusk, not very annoying. You may need to buy own cleaning supplies, like dish soap, laundry/dishwasher detergent, as well as own toilet paper/towels. You expected to pay for the use of electricity, the owner was upfront about it when arranging the rental. We paid €100/2wk. Groceries - there is a small Coop in St. Giovani d'Asso and bakery, literally 5-7 min away driving. Large Coop in a mall in Sinalunga is about 25 min away. No food in walking distance. It is fun to explore small towns around. Must be aware of work hours. Lunch noon to 3 pm; dinner only after 7:30 pm. We are generally ok to drive up to 4 hrs, so used the place as a launch pad to visit Naples (Pompei), Venice, Rome, Florence, Siena, Pisa, Perugia.

Summary: My family and I have spent a week at Villa Ampella La Torre from August 9th till 16th 2014. We were 6 (2 parents and 4 young adults). Our villa had 3 bedrooms. It was our first experience renting a villa. Usually, we go in nice hotels. The verdict was unanimous. We loved it! Actually, it was the best week of vacation we ever had with our kids. Our kids loved it as well. Because of our lack of experience with renting villas, we were a tad nervous. Would the premises be at par with the web site? Will the pool be a spa or a real swimming pool, will the AC be effective… First, Paola was waiting for us despite the fact that we were late. She was very welcoming. She made us feel very comfortable right away. The villa was perfect. Tuscany architecture, yet very new, very nice, very clean with a an amazing view. Well equipped. The villa is situated between the villages of San Giovanni d’Asso and Montisi. We radiated from the villa to Tuscany’s hallmarks such as Sienna, Montalcino, Montepulciano… Usually we were back to the villa around 5 PM. While my wife and I were making dinner, the kids would relax by the pool (which was a real clean pool). This place is hard to beat. We strongly recommend it.

Summary: We had an amazing week . As we were driving there, we turned a corner along the road somewhere after Sinalunga and the scenery took our breath away. Every hillside seemed to grow in beauty and our anticipation increased as we neared Podere Ampella and it more than met our expectations. That first evening, as we sat outside in the peaceful garden, a small bird was flying around overhead and the sun was setting towards San Giovanni D'Asso, and we relaxed for the first time in a long time. The week was wonderful. The house had everything we needed and more. We were really impressed with how beautifully finished the rooms were. We travelled to many of the surrounding villages and ate some incredible food (I'm still dreaming of a restaurant we visited in Montalcino--the pasta with truffle sauce was unlike anything I've tasted before). The photo above is of the sunrise on our last day in the villa. I love the way the hills looked when covered with that hazy glow. Mauro was very kind, he made some wonderful suggestions to us for places to see and was very kind throughout our stay. But now of course normal life resumes and we're back to working long hours. Thank you for all your help! Best wishes, Andrea, Holland
