The North Forty Guest House (2300 square feet) sits on the 40 acres north of the Quaker Meadows area of Morganton, NC. This exquisite, handsome lodge is most definitely one of a kind! The lodge has one medium sized bedroom (Queen), one large bath, a chef's kitchen, bar that seats 10, 5 luxury leather sofas, pool table, two wood burning fireplaces indoor/outdoor, dining room table for 8 guests, full outside deck (1200 square feet) with 2 grills (gas and charcoal), several picnic tables, and a pond for canoeing or fishing! A golf cart will be provided during your stay!
Many of our guests choose this property to simply get away. We have a wonderful, vibrant downtown which offers wonderful shopping and great dining choices. Burke County is "Nature's Playground", with the majestic Linville Gorge in our back yard...hiking, camping, fishing, sightseeing, etc. which draw many visitors to our region of the state. Summary: Although we didn't have luck with the weather (rained 3 of the 4 days that we stayed), I can't think of any other home and property that I'd like to stay at and explore. Communication was excellent, especially during a holiday weekend. Would love to return in the near future.

Summary: The cabin is absolutely great! My folks came down for Christmas and we were all able to hang out and watch football and enjoy some quality time on Christmas Eve. Big or small family the property is awesome and worth every penny. I would recommend 10 out of 10! Easy in and out and the host Caroline was always just a phone call away and willing to help! Great experience!

Summary: This is my 2nd stay and it was just as perfect as the 1st stay. The check in and communication is perfect! If you were to need anything the property manager is just a call away, which there hasn’t been any reason to contact her. You will not regret booking this property. Perfect get away close to everything but makes it feel like it’s back in the woods away from the world.

Summary: This place was so peaceful and perfect! I would one thousand times rent this place again!!! You will not go wrong when renting the house. We had a small gathering to celebrate my daughters birthday and it was big enough and just perfect.

Summary: We stayed here for our wedding then honeymoon getaway. Total of 4 nights /5 days. We had 12 guests for the wedding with plenty of space. We married out on the peak of the pond, and it looks lovely. We had a back up plan of marrying in the house had it rained too much, and there would have been space to do so. Everyone loved it. The place was very clean. The detail was absolutely beautiful. The MacMahon's who built and designed put so much thought into it. There were lots of heirlooms. We had a giant tv, fridge, microwave drawer, ice maker, coffee maker, huggee fridge. Liens supplied, too. There's also stuff in the utility room to clean if you want. The sofas are real leather I believe and SO comfortable to cuddle up on. We used the deck fireplace to make s'mores and carved pumpkins. There was a golf cart to venture the land including a private playground which our 3 year old loved. Though I suggest any child 4 or under wouldn't be very appropriate if they like getting into things because that was a constant battle. The pond isn't suitable for swimming, and the canoe was not very clean & had spiders on it so we unfortunately did not get to use that. But it was fall so probably just not been used in a bit. But we enjoyed sitting on the picnic table and just enjoying time by the pond in general. We hope next year that will be fixed so we can do that! The scenery is just more than you could ask for. You can walk SO many places on that land. The trees are beautiful in the fall. There's literally everything you could possibly need in this place. It is to die for. The bedroom is big enough, cozy. Blankets clean and comfy. Tv in there. Giant closet. Real cow hide rug. The bathroom is HUGE with enough room in the shower for 2. Especially because there are 3 shower heads! There are funny books by the toliet. Speaking of books, there are 2 book cases full of books. The deck is just so big. It has a grill if you need it. But again we loved that fire place more than anything. There's rocking chairs and stuff on the other part of the porch so you can sit there and not yet wet on a rainy day. The pool table is terrific. Me and my now husband enjoyed it and so did other guests. To sum it up, it is beyond worth the price. Booking it every anniversary to go back to ''our spot" I hope the golf cart is kept because I was able to view EVERYTHING even as a disabled person. I'd give 100 stars if I could. 🖤 Caroline was GREAT! 🖤🖤🖤

Summary: My husband and I were lucky enough to stay at the guest house in the Fall. The house is secluded, yet conveniently located. You can tell that much thought and care went into the details of the home both inside and out. The trees that line the property ensure a private feel, and the beautifully colored trees along the road/driveway to the house provided a bonus enjoyment! The house was fully equipped with all we could possibly need. Caroline, the property manager, kept perfect communication with us. We would definitely stay again.

Summary: We rented within a week of our stay. Caroline was quick to answer and very responsive. The fireplace inside was wonderful. Lots of space to spread out. Kitchen had everything you could need to cook. Loved it--would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.
