Positive: This is a wonderful hotel with a recent history of refurbishment under the current owners. The property has been tastefully restored to its original style. We were fortunate to meet Marian who owns the hotel together with her husband and they have every reason to be proud of their achievement. The location is ideal for a short bus ride (4 minutes) to Bern city centre and the bus stop is just across the road from the hotel. The views from the terrace are also wonderful, both of the city and the alps in the background. The Jazz Club in the basement is a famous Bern venue and has hosted many stars over the years including Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson. The hotel is very comfortable with spacious rooms, extremely well run, very clean and all the staff were very helpful and looked like they enjoyed their jobs. A very enjoyable stay.

Negative: Only that we wished we had stayed longer.

Positive: A very intimate, memorable, unique-feeling boutique hotel. Our guest room was thoughtfully appointed with everything we needed to feel comfortable for a six night stay. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Although maybe a 25 minute walk to the city center, the #21 bus to the Bern Bahnhof drives by relentlessly and the hotel provides guest with a free pass for all Bern buses and trams.

Negative: I wish it were a little more affordable, but, so it goes in Switzerland. Honestly, I have no criticism of the property.

Summary: An intimate, memorable, unique boutique hotel. Will remain as my go-to hotel in Bern!

Positive: Lovely older hotel. Convenient public transportation to downtown. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. They willingly accommodated me when I asked to move rooms because I found the noise from the road disruptive. The second room, facing the back garden, was excellent.

Negative: Rooms on the front side of the building are noisy.
