This property comfortably sleeps 6 with 4 adults max and two children.
Northeast Harbor Maine is famous for its summer residents, a beautiful protected harbor with exclusive yachts and sailing vessels, and Acadia National Park. Lilac is a unique open and airy cottage offering a main house and a guest house connected by the spacious gathering deck. The Main house is comprised of a great room with open kitchen/living room concept that offers a Queen size bedroom and bathroom in the upstairs loft. There is a heat pump for heating and cooling A/C needs in the great room. The connecting guest house contains two full and private bedrooms both attaching separately to a full bath. One bedroom has a queen sized bed and a 2nd bedroom with sturdy twin bunk beds. This unique design sleeps 6, a maximum 4 adults with 2 children and offers extra privacy for two families traveling together or In-laws traveling with you. It also works very well for traveling with older children so you may each enjoy your own space while still spending time as a family. Northeast Harbor is a quaint little village close to all that Acadia National Park offers this unique island. Some of the best hiking biking trails are less than 5 minutes up the road by car. Spectacular Asticou and Azalea gardens are within a 5 minute walk! There is a great path behind the guest house that brings you into down town within a minute, while still being away from downtown. Perfect location within a couple of minutes walk to all downtown shops, restaurants, as well as the marina, yet you are tucked in on a small side street never knowing you are that close to the downtown.
Please note: We are dog friendly, however, you must inquire first with breed and size. We have a maximum of two dogs only and charge a pet fee of $150 per stay.

Summary: Northeast Harbor was the perfect jumping off spot to explore Acadia and its surroundings (quieter than Bar Harbor). Home is located within walking distance to the marina (take the ferry out to Little Cranberry for a day), Main Street, and restaurants. Property was perfect for friends (perhaps families) to commune on the deck or in the common area, but to have sleeping privacy and some alone time. Enjoy!

Summary: Our group of three loved our stay at Lilac Cottage! It was amazing to have separate spaces as well as plenty of room to come together. The beds & couches were comfortable and the shower pressure was top-notch, and it was very convenient to have a washer/dryer and a full kitchen on-site. We loved being able to walk around Northeast Harbor from the property and have several park entrances a short drive away. There were a couple of areas that we felt might need to be updated (a shower door that didn't close all the way, somewhat poor ventilation in the bathroom), but overall we would highly recommend Lilac to other small groups and are already looking forward to coming back!

Summary: We visited Acadia National Park with the family and had a great time but there were a couple of hiccups (one was unrelated to the property). The GOOD: location is fantastic, cleanliness was above average. The grill and bonfire were great. The BAD: No AC in the two rooms located in the guest house. When we arrived the keys were not in the lock, somebody had left them inside the house (the lock was open). Beware if there is a storm coming, we lost electricity (it was quickly fixed by the utilities company) but we lost internet for the last 3 days (we work from home so it was a big deal). No soap in the bathrooms.

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay and took advantage of the location to visit several of the local businesses, like Milk and Honey and the cute small town market. It was so nice to have the main house and guest house so that each couple could have their own bed and bath with privacy, but still enjoy the common space and kitchen. It was not a bad drive to Bar Harbor where we ate several meals and could quickly get to many carriage roads, hikes and Thuya Gardens.

Summary: We couldn't ask for a better location and accommodation set up (parents in the main house and teenage children in the other part). The house was a two minute walk to the restaurants and shops, and a five minute stroll to the harbor. Plus, there are amazing hiking trails at the end of the street.
