We are empty-nesters and purchased this home as our retirement home. It is located on the banks of the Trout River in Montgomery Center and has been lovingly renovated from top to bottom.
In the summertime, when the water is at its lowest, you can relax and frolic in the refreshing cool waters of the Trout River; just around the river bend is a deeper swimming hole for you, the kids, or the dog! In the evening, you can relax in your Adirondack chairs beside the babbling river.
There is a comfy queen size bed in the bedroom and a queen size sofa sleeper in the living room. All towels and bedding are furnished along with the basic kitchen necessities.
Our little house on the river is just a short walk (maybe 5 minutes) to all the town amenities such as: grocery store with huge liquor and wine selection, nightclub, restaurants, post office, bike shop (they also rent out snowmobiles in the winter), ATM, churches. We are also located right on the VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) trail.

Summary: Our family of four had a great time on our long weekend visit. This first level apartment had all the necessities along with a well equipped kitchen (there was even a crock pot). There is no Verizon cell coverage, but the internet was fast. The TV is updated from the pictures and had all the app options to log into. The queen bed is very soft, I would suggest sleeping on the pullout if you need a firm surface. The owners were very responsive to any questions we had. Jay Peak is an easy, short drive up the road and there are nice restaurant choices, shops and a market a short walk down the road.

Summary: We loved our stay! The unit was warm and cozy and location was perfect! Short driving distance to Jay Peak and short walking distance to shops and restaurants. Jo Anne and Ken were perfect hosts. Area is dog friendly and we loved that we saw a lot of dogs during our stay. We will definitely be back!

Summary: We enjoyed our stay at Jay Peak at the Trout House Lodge. Close to walks, Montgomery restaurants and the mountain. Lots of activities. And our pup was able to join.

Summary: Such a great place to stay! In the heart of Montgomery center and 10ish minutes from Jay, can hardly ask for better. Great lodgings and such kind and accommodating hosts. We would definitely stay again!

Summary: Ken and Jo Anne were such friendly, hospitable hosts! They greet you with local maple syrup and have great recommendations for things to do nearby. The place is also in a great location! It's on a quiet, scenic street, but it's also less than a five minute walk to the grocery store, gas station, multiple restaurants, and a couple shops including the ski shop. You can walk a very scenic path nearby, and it's a short drive to Jay Peak and parts of the Long Trail for hiking or snowshoeing. Highly recommend a stay here!

Summary: Wow what a great little gem of a house and town. Right on a small steam one can stroll into town for groceries or for a dinner at several restaurants. It’s a great place to stay and a short distance for skiing I highly recommend this place. The hosts who live close by are there for you if needed but not imposing at all. We will return

Summary: Everything was seamless when we rented Trout House for our weekend getaway. From the initial renting/communication from Jo Anne and Ken, to check in, our stay, and check out, we did not have any issues. Jo Anne and Ken are both lovely, quick to respond to messages, and provided us with all the amenities we needed during our weekend getaway. The unit was perfectly sized for me, my husband, and our dog. We we're thrilled to be able to bring Gus along, and he loved romping around in the snow. The condo would have been a bit tight (although do-able) if we were up with another couple, but for us two and the dog we had more than enough space! The condo is super clean, and although is pet friendly didn't have any animal odors or hair. Jo Anne and Ken keep the place pristine! They live next door so available if anything comes up during the stay. Montgomery center is a quaint little ski town, 15 min drive from Jay, and had a few restaurant options to chose from. This definitely isn't a party spot, but if you are looking for a quiet and chill place to be after a day on the slopes..this is it! The only thing I would say is, and this may be that I've stayed at other rentals with these details provided, there wasn't any check out directions. Other than where to leave garbage, we weren't sure if we should strip the bed, where to put the towels, etc. May be worthwhile to add some of these details in the binder so guests know what to do? Or maybe Jo Anne and Ken are just that flexible and they don't care?! Either way, this is minor and didn't impact our weekend or overall happiness with the Trout House! We would definitely rent from Jo Anne and Ken again without hesitation!! Thanks for a great stay and we hope to see you again in the future!
