Hello! We are your hosts, Ken & Jo Anne Fiske. We purchased this house as our retirement home. It is located right on the banks of the Trout River in Montgomery Center and has been lovingly renovated from top to bottom. We love this area so much and wanted to share it!
In the summertime, when the water is at its lowest, you can relax and frolic in the refreshing cool water of the Trout River. Just around the river bend is a deeper, more private swimming hole. In the evening, relax around the fire pit.
In the winter, the mountain is just a 15-minute drive away. We are also located directly on the VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) trail.
Entering this apartment, you will find a small vestibule to hang your hats and coats; there is also an area for skis and snow gear. Ascending the custom staircase, you are greeted by an open living room/dining/kitchen area with vaulted beamed ceilings and track lighting throughout. All lighting is on dimmer switches. Here you will also find a flat screen TV with built-in DVD player and remote, Defiant gas fireplace and a brand new Simmons sofa-sleeper with air controls to customize to your desired firmness. The huge double windows overlook the river.
The kitchen boasts brand new top of the line stainless steel appliances: French-door fridge with ice maker, 5-burner gas range, deep double sinks and granite countertops. A private deck is located off the dining area.
Down the short hallway, you will find the bathroom with custom walk-in shower with sitting bench; also a stack washer/dryer. Across the hall is a set of bunk beds and at the end of the hallway is your huge master bedroom featuring a new Serta queen size pillow top bed. An electric wall mounted fireplace will keep you toasty warm in the winter months. You will also find plenty of extra pillows and linens.
And we haven't forgotten Fido! We have even provided a bed, bowls, and a toy for your favorite furry travelling companion!
Our little house on the river is just a short walk (maybe 5 minutes) to all the town amenities: grocery store with great liquor and wine selection, nightclub, restaurants, post office, bike shop (they also rent out snowmobiles in the winter), ATM, and churches.

Summary: This property is located in Montgomery which is a short drive to Jay Peak and close to restaurants and shopping. The property is beautifully remodeled with many high end features. We had a wonderful stay and Ken and Joanne could not have been better hosts!

Summary: We had a wonderful stay in VT. The house was very cozy and clean. Joanne and Ken went out of their way to make sure everything was good. Great location, so close to the main rd but not on it. Beautiful view of the river. Easy drive to Jay Peak. I would definately stay here again, highly recommend this property.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay at the Little House on the River. Ken and Jo Anne were so easy to work with; quick to respond to our questions, detailed instructions to the property, and they answered all of our questions in a timely manner. Our kids enjoyed chatting with Ken outside while playing with our pup. Our family had plenty of space for living, sleeping plus our ski gear. We loved all the hooks and racks for drying--something that many places at which we have stayed did not have. The top bunk was a little small in height for our tween and teen to sleep on, and we were so happy to have the option to use the comfy fold out couch. We loved the location--walking distance to Sylvester's (which as an excellent beer selection!) and the recommended restaurants (which were delicious!). There were plenty of linens, pillows, towels for our family plus extra. Overall, we loved it. Looking forward to a future trip. Thank you, Ken and Jo Anne!

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay at Ken and Joanne's home in Montgomery Center. The apartment was very comfortable in a well appointed, creative layout. It's a perfect location, only 10 minutes to Jay Peak and walking distance to shopping and restaurants. They were very gracious hosts who made us and our 2 dogs feel very welcome! Nancy & Tim B.

Summary: We loved staying in Montgomery and at Ken & Joann's place. The locals in Montgomery are incredibly friendly (including our hosts Ken and Joann!) and we loved our location as it was walking distance to restaurants & bars. Highly recommend stopping in at Bernie's for breakfast, Belfry for dinner and stopping in at Fresh Trax to see Donnie if you need any sports equipment! The apartment itself was well-appointed, everything was new and it was warm and cozy (which was needed since we averaged a -10 temperature while we were there). We will absolutely be back. Thanks again for a great stay and great time!

Summary: Everything was exactly as it looks online! The area received a lot of snow just 2 days before our stay and it was all shoveled & the walkway cleared the day we arrived! We would definitely stay again!

Summary: The apartment was very clean and comfortable - nicely done kitchen. It was very convenient to Jay Peak Resort - if coming in the winter, be sure to have winter tires as going up the mountain without them will be difficult (or just wait and follow a snowplow up). It was also very convenient to several local restaurants and a small market is also within walking distance.

Summary: this is a great little stop on a river with excellent amenities. Walking distance to everything in Montgomery center as well as only 20 minutes from Jay peak. Owners are close by if needed and want to make sure you enjoy your stay. great little firepit on the river to relax and enjoy the outdoors!!!

Summary: Greeted by friendliest face ever, Rudy! A beautiful golden retriever. The caretakers Jo and Ken were welcoming, helpful, kind and generous. The suite itself was immaculate and new. A great view of the stream and sunsets. The fire pit was accompanied by two of the must comfortable outdoor reclining chairs, a picnic table with benches, a gas grill, and fire wood! No need to pay some guy down the road for wood, between the stream banks and what Jo and Ken provided there was plenty for five nights of 4-5 hour fire sessions. Appliances and fixtures are new and top notch, you really feel like you're being spoiled. Speaking of spoiled, the master bed is a sleep number bed! The suite is pet friendly which is always needed. Bring a fishing rod, bike, hiking shoes, and skies in the winter. This place is 5 minutes from great trails. And 15 minutes from Jay peak. Overall I had a glorious time watching the stars and enjoying the outdoors with the comforts of home. Great bed, tv with cable/dvd player, appliances including a small coffee maker,heat and AC and a back deck too. A grand time had by all! Thank you for sharing your place with us.
