With Winter right around the corner we can't imagine a better getaway.
Hot chocolate or hot toddies by the cozy fire place sound lovely- but being 2.8 miles from Elk Mnt Ski Resort and minutes from the D&H Rail-Trail sounds even better.
Skiing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling along with a variety of outdoor activities are available within minutes to our guests.
Rail-Trail Council of NEPA hosts a variety of fun outdoor events throughout the winter and have snowshoes free to borrow.
My favorite season on The D&H Rail-Trail is the winter. I can't think of a better way to spend a few hours outside during that cold snowy season than exploring the beautiful Rail-Trail. I'd encourage you to also get adventurous and rent a pair of snowshoes (from the Rail-Trail) and relish in the quiet snow covered countryside or a pair of cross-country skis to get your heart rate up and a workout in on the miles of D&H Rail-Trail.

Summary: Perfect location - plenty of space Stocked kitchen with spices, coffee filters, oils, etc plus good supply of pots/pans to cook at home since restaurants are scare Rec center was a bonus for teens/young adults. Wished it was warmer to do mini golf outside

Summary: Our family of 4 had a great time at Carissa's cozy townhouse! We were an easy 5-min drive from Elk Mountain and enjoyed a wonderful weekend of skiing. The townhouse itself seemed to be recently renovated, and was very well decorated and stocked, including comfy beds, a hot chocolate bar, and firewood. Carissa was very responsive and easy to communicate with. We will definitely be back!

Summary: We loved our stay at the Elk Shack. Not only was the place nicely decorated and stocked with supplies, it was above an beyond what we expected (farm fresh eggs in the fridge!). Clear directions for anything you wanted to use - they even had a set of gloves on the pile of firewood - They really didn't miss a detail! Only minutes from Elk Mountain (you can see it from the complex). Communication with the hostess was great and getting in and out was easy. A++
