House situated on a small hill overlooking a valley, where far runs the river Arunca a small river that crosses Pombal.
The house is all facing east, the sun comes into the house at dawn, which illuminates and warms the entire space.
It is a cozy single storey house, large with large windows, all opening onto the garden and onto a terrace.
A room with a beautiful fireplace where you can relax and enjoy your beautiful garden listening to the birds.
Situated 3 km from the city center, you can use the bicycle, or walk or drive if you prefer. Here you will find an indoor pool, tennis court and 5 km away has an Aquaparque.
Pombal has a prime location for visiting the whole country.
Lisbon Airport is only 135 km away and Porto Airport is 175 km away.
Pombal benefits from a train and bus station, which can take you to visit the whole country if you do not want to rent a car.
Points of Interest in the Central Zone:
Coimbra city with one of the oldest Universities in Europe dating from 1308, with a much appreciated Library. The city is crossed by the Mondego River. Just a few kilometers away, there is an ancient Roman city called Sesimbra, very well preserved.
We have several mountain ranges with very interesting walking routes and varying degrees of difficulty.
Among them is the Serra da Lousã with its famous stone villages, such as Piódão - Arganil.
Serra de Aire and Candeeiros, which make up the Estremadura limestone massif. There are several caves, such as the Mira de Aire and Moeda caves.
Serra da Sicó is the right place for those who like climbing, is only 13 km in Redinha, has routes between 15 and 25 meters high.The levels are between III and 8a and are well equipped. Here you have a huge range of walking routes you can do.
For those who like kayaking and canoeing there is the Mondego river and its mouth (Gala), the Cabril Dam with its reservoir, the result of one of the largest dams in the country, and also the Pedrógão Grande Nautical Club, which offers tours. by boat, canoe or kayak. The site also has a boat access ramp with capacity for about 20 boats.
We have many river beaches, the nearest is 25 km Fragas de São Simão, also with several walking routes.

For those who like to visit monuments, we have Batalha, Alcobaça, Leiria, Montemor o Velho. Obidos medieval city.
If you like to visit religious sites, you have Fatima 40 km by car, but if you want to make a walking route is 30 km to the Sanctuary, for me it was a challenge.

Summary: The property was perfect for two couples traveling around Portugal. We spent four nights here, using Pombal as our home base for exploring the nearby areas. A pleasant surprise was the visit to the castle of Pombal and the beautiful church Igreja Matriz de Sao Martinho. The house was conveniently located to the town of Pombal but quiet enough to enjoy pleasant evenings and mornings on the covered patio. The kitchen was very well equipped. The main den was very well furnished and just right for enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The bathrooms were nice. The whole house was very clean. We would stay here again if we return to the area.

Summary: The property is fantastic; nice, full equiped, very well maintained, clean. The garden is great for some relaxing time outside. Location is just strategically perfect for doing mulltiple visits to Porto, Lisbon, Coimbra and just 30 minutes from great beaches like Osso da Blaleira. The welcoming and level of attention of Helena is just outstanding. We´ll be back next year.

Summary: Our trip to central Portugal with home base outside of Pombal was greatly enhanced by the opportunity to meet Helen and to rent her exceptional property. Helen's house is a jewel. This 3 bd/2 bath house is impeccably designed and furnished, situated on a hill with superb outside space, beauty, and privacy. We have stayed in VRBO homes across the world, and we were impressed and pleased to find such a perfect house with outstanding cleanliness. No dust bunnies or dirty corners marred the contemporary beauty and comfort of the home. Helen is kind, sweet, and genuine, guiding us as we needed, but maintaining our privacy at all times. For those who have never visited this part of Portugal, it is a unique historical and geographical destination. Within minutes to the spectacular Atlantic coast where fishermen still net fresh sardines during the summer, to the ring of medieval castles that defended the populace, the age of discovery still permeates the air and enriches the culture of the region. And, Helen's house is the perfect home from which to discover the beauty of the landscape, people and culture. We highly recommend her house and this destination. The only very small downside was the occasionally spotty internet service, however, we compensated by hotspotting our phones. Thank you, Helen, for your exceptional hospitality!

Summary: We are a couple with a little daughter and we love staying in this house. Very quiet and pleasant place to rest. The house is beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything needed for a family with children. The outside space is large and pleasant. The welcoming way Helena welcomed us makes us feel at home. Certainly a place to stay again.
