Summary: The village is lovely. The house has bare minimum of amenities but adequate for our needs. The garden is the star of this property and the host is so nice.

Summary: Lovely house quiet location so peaceful. Shame the weather didn't let us enjoy the garden but it didnt dampen our spirits. So well located, clean, warm and comfortable base for our brief stay. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

Summary: We had a great week exploring the area. The house is well situated for Utah Beach and we were never short of things to do. Some of the trips we particularly enjoyed were visiting Bayeux and seeing the tapestry and the cathedral, visiting the D Day Experience museum just down the road, going across to Barneville and Carteret and bodybording on the big waves, and seeing the church at St Mere Eglise from the film The Longest Day which we watched before coming. The house itself was plenty big enough for a family of four, with lovely gardens for the children to run around in. We appreciated the cold drinks on arrival and for the price thought the holiday was good value for money.

Summary: Great cottage! Great location. In the small town of Vierville just minutes from San Marie Du Mont and Carentan. The host was wonderful! Hope to soon visit again.

Summary: We loved our stay in Normandy and this gite was perfect for us. The location couldn't have been better. Just wish we had more time to enjoy the countryside.

Summary: Our three sons are very interested in D-day. For that reason we decided to spend our Dutch May-holiday week in Normandy. I booked this lovely cottage. The cottage is very clean, bright and spacious (lovely shower). Our sons stayed in the two rooms upstairs and we had a spacious room downstairs (with a very nice bed). The beds were made, we only had to bring our own towels. Everything you might need you will find, though some more kitchen utensils would have been nice. When it was sunny and warm we sat in the front garden. The road going by the cottage is fairly busy, but you don’t notice that inside or at back. The town was very small and there are no shops. We had a lovely walk through the fields, the nature is beautiful. Our sons played soccer most of the time when we were at the cottage. There was a nice big field in back for them to use. We started our D-day ‘tour’ with a visit to Utah Beach and the museum there. The visit to the Utah beach museum turned out to be a good start for our holiday as we were well informed about how everything went. Driving around the countryside on Sunday we ran in no less than two brocante’s (oh joy!). We visited St Mere Eglise (paratrooper still hanging on the church), Carenthan (for shopping, but it also has a nice centre), we had diner in a restaurant in St Marie du Mont, visited a huge fortress in St Vaast la Hougue, designed by Vaugan, and walked over the walls. Also made a visit to lovely Barfleur. Omaha Beach was next. Isigny, Grandcamp Maisy (fresh fish on Tuesday market), Pointe du Hoc, Vierville-sur-Mer (American Cemetery), Longues-sur-Mer (take a walk down to the beach), Port-en-Bessin (lovely), Arromanches-les-Bains (remains of the Mulberry harbor, don’t forget to visit the musee du Debarquement! –Dutch information available) and a lot more!!! And my personal favorite: Mont St Michel. Beautiful, an absolute must see. On our last day we had car trouble and our car had to be brought to a garage. Everything would not have gone so quickly if it was not for the owners of our cottage (live next door). They drove us twice to the garage in Carentan and later to Bajeux. We owe them a lot of gratitude. We can recommend this cottage to everyone. We had a lovely week and enjoyed Normandy enormously. Nico and Lynda Persoon
