Positive: Exceptional location and architecture/interior for those interested in historic homes. Lots of stairs and quirky rooms with eclectic decor. Right in old Lyon. We loved it.
Negative: Main floor bedrooms were very musty. Invest in a good air filter/dehumidifier. Upgrade cushions, some bedding and rug because they seemed to be the source of the mustiness. No issues with the upstairs rooms.
Summary: Step into 17th century Lyon and enjoy an experience you won’t forget.

Positive: The location is excellent! Right on the edge of Vieux Lyon. It's a very interesting place to stay. It sort of looks like an old palace, but also looks like it was renovated to look like an old palace. Either way, it's really interesting and quirky and we loved it. It has a washer and dryer in the basement that works great, but you can only use one at a time. There's a bathroom in the basement that was mentioned in other reviews as being not so great, and I don't see why. It has a full bathtub, shower attachment, half shower wall thing so the floor doesn't get wet when you shower, a big vanity with a sink and big mirror. The only negative I would say is that the lighting wasn't great and no toilet in the basement. On the ground floor, there are 2 bedrooms, both interesting and comfortable. One has a small bathroom with shower and sink attached. There's a toilet in its own little room (but no sink) on the ground floor. First floor up has another bedroom with a tiny W/C with a toilet under a somewhat slanted roof and a tiny sink. Small and funky but it works! Also on the first floor up is a big dining area which leads to a small kitchen. Top floor is a living area and a small interesting library. We did not see any ghosts while there. :) The windows all have locks and some have bars, and it felt safe to us. There were 3 stand up fans which we used all the time. We were there in July when the days were pretty warm (85-90F). The house was stuffy and warm in the afternoon when we'd be out and the windows were all closed, but opening the windows and turning on the fans made it quite comfortable. We slept with the windows all closed and locked and the fans on, and it was fine. The walls are quite thick which no doubt insulates it well.
Negative: Not a problem for us, but we went up and down that concrete spiral staircase a zillion times a day. I did find that my feet got dirty if I walked around barefoot. If you want a predictable standard place to stay, book a hotel. If you want something interesting, stay here.

Negative: The building is obviously very old, which is part of the charm, but unfortunately bathrooms were very slippery & not well ventilated, one of our group had a fall. There were dirty clothes under the bed.
Summary: The location is fantastic & the building is interesting. But the bathrooms were not good for the $$.

Positive: The location was superb. The house was really beautiful. Full of character with some lovely furniture and murals. Stone staircases which wouldn’t be suitable for young children or elderly guests but added for us as a family of adults a real charm. It was like a mini chateau! Really couldn’t recommend enough over a standard hotel which all look the same. Would love to know the history behind the place. Views wonderful and so close to local shops, bars and restaurants. No noise from these. Kitchen very well equipped. Loads of books and games. Honestly loved the place.
Negative: Although we personally did not have issue, it is worth noting that the toilet and shower arrangements were unusual. Toilet en-suite very low headroom. Shared toilet no hand sink so had to go down to basement or through bedroom. Shower en-suite meant all using through a bedroom. Downstairs shower was in a bath. As far as we were concerned this was minor.

Positive: Lyon is a beautiful city and this was a great location in Vieux Lyon, especially if you appreciate old buildings and didn't need a car. Set back from the Soane River, nearby carparking was about 25 EUR / day and it was about 1km walk. There is a driveway adjacent which you could drop off your bags and then relocate the car to the carpark further away. The house is over four levels so you need to be very mobile and since there aren't handrails, this wouldn't suit those travelling with children. There were two small under bench fridges and some supplies in the pantry. We experienced very hot weather so opening the windows in the late evening gave relief. Security was emphasized by the person handing over the keys so you needed to be in the property. There are only mobile fans in the bedrooms.
Negative: In a former life this property was the presbytery for the church next door. Unfortunately it was dirty and looked like the furnishings were cobbled together from grandma's house. Nothing matched, the linen was tired. Wet areas really need upgrading to include a new bathroom with ventilation (there was mould on the walls) and toilets that complied with current standards. Outside weeds were growing on the steps. All the fans in the house were dirty and the extractor fan in the kitchen was full of grease and quite possibly a fire hazard. Serious money needs to be spent. The representative was unreliable in her meeting times, though she organized transport to and from the airport for our other guests.
Summary: Good location for a bunch of friends from various countries to meet - Pity it wasn't in better shape
