Positive: Very nicely renovated villa from the 1930s with a garden, and wellness.

Negative: Very poor buffet, we asked ahead about vegetarian options, and they assured us there would be options for everyone, which turned out to have only chicken and cheap cold salads.

Positive: We had 2 rooms, a triple and a double, during our 10-day stay, and they were both beautiful, but the double was small and the shower leaked (water collected on the floor after each use). Also, the lack of air conditioning was very hard to take. It got very hot, and we couldn't open the windows even at night to cool down the rooms because there were no mosquito nets on the windows (in a house that sits in the middle of nothing but trees...) and a large population of insects buzzing outside. On two nights we couldn't sleep at all - just sat in our beds sweating. It was quite unpleasant. The grounds are impressive, large and manicured, but they are completely unlit at night and impossible to navigate. Breakfast is good, but lacks variety (the exact same things are served every day). Dinner was nice while the cook was there, but after the first two nights he disappeared, and dinner became a buffet of breakfast leftovers, meat, and a few other items. Grilled meat, always on offer, tasted of cooking fluid (lucky for our dog, who didn't mind). We ended up going out for dinner, and it was better. The Czech diet is not to our taste, but we did manage to find a few places that were adequate. On the plus side, fresh coffee capsules and 2 small bottles of water were provided every day. There are enough plugs in the room to cope with all one’s devices.

Negative: Cleaning is excellent, but no real daily housekeeping as advertised. They just empty out the rubbish and straighten the duvets. However, after requesting it, fresh linen and towels were provided, but only every third day, which, given the heat and lack of AC, was woefully insufficient. The laundry was a bit of a disaster, even though it’s listed as one of the features of the property. They asked me to bring mine to them, to the laundry room, and once it was done, it was left folded (but not pressed), in a crate in the lobby for me pick up. I also needed to press a couple of shirts, and initially they said they would lend me the ironing table and the iron, but then told me that it would be easier for them if I went to the laundry room to do my ironing there. Needless to say, that didn't appeal to me.

Summary: 5-star property, but a 3-star stay
