Quiet villa in a small village at the gates of Narbonne, near the Abbey of Fonfroide, 30 minutes from the Mediterranean, the Cathar castles, the city of Carcassonne, the African Reserve and Spain. You can rest or sail on the Canal du Midi, visit the Roman sites, swim in Gruissan with its chalets on stilts, saline, Narbonne Plage, Leucate country of the wind, and windsurfing on the ponds of Bages . You will taste the excellent A. O.C Corbières wines and Minervois wines, of the Clape that offer along the course, cooperative and particular cellars. In the evening you can enjoy a small meal by the pool in the conservatory. The village also has a pizzeria 'La Forge' and a gourmet restaurant 'La table du château', a grocery store and a bakery. Children will meet Caramel our pony and his girlfriend Hip our little goats and goats.

Summary: Loved our stay in Bizanet. The hosts, especially Marie-Claude were delightful and could not have been more friendly and helpful. So many things to see in the surrounding area. We particularly liked the Abbé de Fontfroide with its lovely restaurant and wines. Carcassonne was great, les Halles in Narbonne well worth a visit, plus Gruisson and La Port Nouvelle. Le Somail on the Canal du Midi also lovely. So many places to visit. We used the excellent train service from Lezignan Corbieres for many of these trips - it was great.

Summary: Myself and my family spent a wonderful 10 days in the company of Marie-Claude and Alain at their gite. From start to finish, they were the perfect hosts - waiting up for us as we arrived so late, bringing fresh jam and vegetables for us and having us along for some drinks by the pool one evening. Speaking of which, the pool is absolutely marvellous. It makes the difference in that, if you don't feel like heading out anywhere, a day by the pool makes you feel like you are still doing something. The gite itself is excellent. The air-conditioning is a wonderful addition, especially if, like me, you really suffer sometimes in the heat. Wherever we were, whatever we were doing, we knew that we had a cool oasis to go home to. The area is nice, with interesting places like Carcasonne (amazing medieval town), the abbey at Fontfroide and Narbonne all on your doorstep. Spain is less than an hour away. So to sum up, don't hesitate, book your stay now ! You will not be disappointed !!

Summary: Thank you so much Marie Claude and husband for a really wonderful 2 weeks with our boys. The gite is beautiful, well equipped and we really benefitted from the pool. Marie Claude's husband even provided us all with bikes! The boys adored all the animals (dogs, goats and ponies) and no food went to waste as they fed our vegetable scraps to the goats! We were greated with a vegetable box, wine and milk to get started and after being stuck in traffic and a little later than anticipated Marie Claude made us very welcome with drinks, ice creams and a chat. The local village has a boulangerie which is open every day for breakfast and the La Forge Pizzeria in walking distance does amazing pizzas - you may need to book, she's always busy! You definitely need to have a car but everything is within easy reach - beaches are a 30 minute drive - blue flag beaches at Valras Plage and there are lots of watersports opportunities close by including paddle boarding, kite surfing etc. We rented an electric boat from L'Auberge du Somail at Le Somail and spent a great 2 hours on the Canal du Midi. The medieval city of Carcassonne is a must, L'Abbaye du Fontfroide is on your doorstep, Lagrasse is very pretty with an abbey too, Pezenas is beautiful, check out the water jousting at Sete and we even ventured across the border to Spain to Monastir La Pere to Rodes and into Port de Selva and back up the coast to France. Girona isn't that much further, we just timed it wrong. Narbonne has lots of free events in Summer as do local villages. Thanks so much again Marie Claude, can't recommend enough.

Summary: Just what we had hoped for in a small village with boulanger in walking distance and great drives to Collioure, Cathar castles and the lovely town of Narbonne. Lovely peaceful and rustic setting.

Summary: We (myself, wife and two children) had an excellent holiday in Bizanet. The owners were very nice, making us feel very welcome and showing us what life in France is like. They were helpful, giving advice on places to visit and on-hand to give help if needed. The house is a nice size and cleanly presented, with good A/C and a small garden for "al fresco" dining. There is even a swimming pool that can be used to cool off on the hot days. In short everything required for a relaxing stay in this great region of France. There is plenty to do in the local area, from swimming in rivers, visiting the beach, tasting the wine or visiting the spectacular castles. It is highly likely that we will return! Nous avons eu une vacance superbe en Bizanet. Les propriétaires étaient tres sympa, et ils nous ont assisté quand besoin. La maison est une bonne taille et propre, avec AC et in petit jardin pour faire du reposer. Il y a une piscine pour les jours chaud. Il y a tout les chose pour une vacance bonne dans cette region de la France. Je pense que nous allons revenir!

Summary: We were warmly welcomed upon arrival by Pierre and Marie-Claude with cake and a drink, then shown around the Gite. The Gite itself is situated next door to the owner's home. It is well equipped and comfortable. We had our own garden where we could sit outside and enjoy the Spring sunshine. Bizanet is a typical French village, it has a boulangerie, an epicerie and two restaurants - we enjoyed a couple of meals at La Table de Chateau. There are plenty of places to visit in the vicinity, with Fontfroide Abbey being literally just down the road. A good Gite for families, children would not only enjoy the pool but also love Pierre's menagerie (goats, chickens, 2 miniature ponies and not to forget the friendly Jack Russel!) Marie-Claude and Pierre are excellent hosts managing to be both discreet and friendly. Merci beacoup Marie-Claude et Pierre!
