Negative: It’s a big older home. The stairs are very very steep and the bedrooms are upstairs. The baths were updated, but awkward spaces. We were only given two bath towels & two hand towels. The couch was very comfortable for Costa Rican furniture. The tv had some problems. It was a pleasant place just dated and a bit awkward. We appreciated the owners and all their help.

Positive: Very spacious house. It was difficult to find a house with three bedrooms, so we were happy to find it. The location is good, near a small supermarket and a short drive from downntown Santa Elena. Nice to have a balcony. We enjoyed breakfast and card games on the balcony. The owner provided helpful advice about tours.
Negative: Strange layout with an odd outer ring around the lounge and kitchen. I think it must have been a hotel in the past. The house didn't smell great - a mix of harsh cleaning liquid and mustiness. The house is less private than I expected, being close to and overlooked by a hotel and restaurant. Netflix didn't work as it needed an update which was annoying and was not resolved for us. I slept so badly due to a combination of road noise, howler monkeys and a bright white light outside my bedroom - as the curtains are transparent! Having been in CR for two weeks before in the jungle we were very used to jungle noise but the combination with road noise amd only voile curtains made it much less soothing. Bring earplugs and an eye mask if you come. The check-in felt rushed, and we didn't feel very well briefed.
Summary: Spacious house close to Santa Elena, not suited to light sleepers.

Positive: I was positively surprised by the overall service we received. The place was sparkling clean. There were kitchen utensils available and appliances all in perfect working condition. There is a nice restaurant with Peruvian food a few steps away within the same property (but belonging to another administration). The location was excellent.
Negative: We only had a some delay collecting the keys because the mobile signal was broken but once we established contact via WhatsApp everything was quickly solved. We had a very heavy rain during the night and had a minor leak into one of the rooms, gladly away from the bed. This sometimes happens when winds change directions during storms.
Summary: Very satisfied with location and facilities

Positive: This was a spacious house that initially was perfect for our group. The kitchen was well equipped and there were two good sized bathrooms. Unfortunately, we weren't warned about the scorpions.
Negative: At night, we had several scorpions crawling out of the walls. One ended up in my friend's bag and stung him. We had received no warning from the owner that this might happen at this time of year, so had no idea about how to deal with them. After 24 hour of dealing with 10+ scorpions, we left early.
Summary: Nice house, if you like scorpions...
