Negative: I think the concierge could do a better job. Also the communication was really bad from the beginning.

Positive: This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff are so friendly and attentive yet without being obtrusive and one staff member Michel remembered us from years ago and greeted us like old friends which was lovely. It is a very beautiful hotel and the attention to detail is second to none. The cuisine is outstanding and they have an excellent and extensive wine list. Rose petals are left on your pillows at night by the evening service and there are always little treats in store. The concierge is most helpful and can provide any information or service you require, for example airport transfers, chauffeured driven tours with wine tastings and picnics. There is a spa and swimming pool and beautiful grounds.
Negative: It is quite a formal hotel in a way - but it is what you make of it. The only thing is if you do not hire a car and walk the 10 minutes into the centre of town it is a very steep little entrance to the hotel and their is a gradual hill to get to there. ( We took advantage of the small shuttle service for under a couple of euros to get back.) It might not be to everyone’s style.
Summary: Remarkable place. Would love to go back!

Positive: I came back to Villa Gallici after I went with my fiancée last year, we planned to celebrate our two year anniversary at the Hotel. The Hotel itself is absolutely stunning, very relaxing and overall I would recommend the hotel for a short stay and I would likely return in the future. However there was a couple of points this year that just really let down my entire experience. Firstly; last year the staff were phenomenal. Exactly what you expect from a 5* hotel and the very reason that we went back. This year was a truly average experience, the reception staff overall were fine. But the wait staff over the rest of the hotel were sharp, unwilling to go the extra mile, no one once asked me in 6 days how my experience was. The restaurant & pool staff were clearly inexperienced, overworked and their hearts just were not it in. The whole experience overall was - meh. I didn’t feel looked after, I also didn’t have any huge complaints except point number two - the food. This was my absolute nightmare overall, the food menu is nutritionally unbalanced. The hotel just does not cater for a stay longer than a night or two. You can’t even get a decent salad at the pool. The Gallici salad has no protein, I ate the Burrata salad four times and had to ask for them to add ham just for some nutritional balance. The gastronomic experience is 150e a head and it was - ok. Nothing special. Very small portions and underwhelming. I did raise the issue one day with the server and she quite literally said ‘go into town then’ which I did. For the very first time in my life staying at a hotel, I ordered Deliveroo 3 times during my stay. I did speak with a few guests casually during the course of my stay and every, single, person said the same thing. The only pool option is quite literally greasy pizza or a burrata salad. The restaurants are often empty and I can see why. Overall as I said the Hotel itself is really quite beautiful, but the service & food really lets it down.
Negative: I had a dress taken up a few inches, which they very kindly offered to organise however I was charged 70e which is three times what I would pay in London.
Summary: A shout out to the SPA which is truly amazing. Don’t miss out!

Negative: the air conditioning is not proficient for summer months in the Provence. The room was hot at night and there was no way to cool further.
