The elegant Villa Liberty is located in the center a few meters from the suggestive historic center of Ruffano, an ancient city village located in the territory of the "Serre del Salento" (a plateau extension of the "Murge di Puglia" made up of hills) and positioned in the center -south of the Salento peninsula, equidistant (about 15-20 km) from the most exclusive beaches of the Ionian Sea (Torre San Giovanni, Maldive del Salento, Gallipoli etc.) and from the rocky bays of the Adriatic Sea (Marina Serra di Tricase, Marina di Castro and Marittima, Marina di Novaglie, Santa Maria di Leuca, etc.). The architecture of the Villa is typical of late 19th century noble villas, as is the structure of the garden characterized by stone porticoes. Today, the kitchen is located in the large "Palmento", the wine cellar, that is the place where in ancient times the grapes were pressed to produce wine, equipped with ancient stone tanks, which can still be admired today preserved by large glass plates . In the rear garden of the Villa, the attention is immediately drawn to the elegant swimming pool, equipped with every comfort and surrounded by an enchanting and verdant garden of fruit trees, flowers and Mediterranean plants. The Villa extends over a mezzanine level for about 300 square meters; the large entrance characterized by the high ceiling built with the typical star vaults, gives access to a large central living room and to the first two double bedrooms, each with a bathroom, one of the two bedrooms also has a small adjoining kitchen and access to the rear terrace with table and sitting area. The living room has a relaxation area with sofas and TV, tables for reading and for working. You then enter the other two double bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom and direct access to the garden facing the pool; All the rooms are decorated with a pleasant mix of modern and antique style, spacious and offer the possibility of adding an extra bed, they are air-conditioned and served by four private bathrooms, two of which have typical stone tubs. Summary: The house is even better in real life than on the pictures. The renovation has been amazing, all the bedrooms have their en-suite bathrooms, the kitchen is huge and fully equiped. We had an amazing stay! All the beaches are within 20-45 minutes. There are a handful of nice restaurants in Ruffano itself. The supermarket is 5 min away. Everything you need to spend great holidays

Summary: I recently stayed at Villa Giulia as a group of 6 friends on a girls’ trip, and I cannot overstate how perfect it was for us. We didn’t have a car but Giulio kindly helped us book a taxi from the airport and once we were there we barely wanted to leave. The house is super spacious and tastefully decorated, and the pool area is perfect for hanging out all afternoon in the beautiful sunshine. We had complete privacy thanks to the huge garden surrounding the house, but Anna Lisa was always a phone call away to help with anything we needed. The town of Ruffano is not touristy at all so we felt we had a very authentic Italian experience, including stumbling upon a town party where there was live music in the piazzas. The supermarket 5 minutes away had fantastic produce for making meals at home, as well as a lovely deli L’Arte dei Sapore just down the road. We found some great ceramics to bring back as souvenirs from Fernando Falcone, and enjoyed eating out at Farmacia dei Sani and Pescheria La Grotto Del Mare where the fishmonger whips up a delicious seafood feast for €20 a head. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay for a chilled out holiday off the beaten track, it doesn’t get better than this. Thank you Giulio and Anna Lisa!

Summary: This villa was even more beautiful in person, we can't wait to come back again. As a group of friends and family, we found this rental to be spacious, the host more than accommodating, and the town of Ruffano was a highlight of our explorations around the Salento. Proximity to all coastal beaches, small towns, historic architecture and archaeological sites, don't get me started on the food- if you see pastries at any gas station near town do not hesitate to try! We were able to make a few tasty dishes in the villa's kitchen, using ingredients from local markets, and would consider coming later in the fruit season just to enjoy more of the garden's treasures. I lost my glasses swimming in caves and the host was able to connect me to an incredible optometrist, there is nothing we went without al week. We feel lucky to be welcome to stay at such a unique and inspiring location, thank you for such a special getaway!

Summary: Villa Giulia is one of the most beautiful places we have rented in over 15 years of holiday rentals. Both the inside and outside area are very spacious. Somehow the owners managed to create a close to perfect marriage between elegance and simplicity and as a result the place is both very beautiful but also utterly relaxing. The villa itself provides a unique sense of space as all rooms and communal areas have generous surfaces and ceilings that must be around five meters high. Furnishing is of quality and good taste and of the type of materials and design that don't create anxiousness to break things. The garden is immense, well kept and with a good sized swimmingpool. each day we discovered new details, my preferred one being the jasmine plant that covers the eating area and provides wonderful fragrances during meals. Ruffano itself is not a very beautiful village but the fact that supermarkets, restauarants and the local gelateria were in walking distance was very comfortable. More importantly, Ruffano's location makes it the perfect base to discover Puglia and provides visitors with the luxury to chose whether to bathe in the Ionian or in the Adriatic Sea. In short, we loved our one week stay in Villa Giulia and will chose the villa again as our base if we go back to the region.

Summary: We enjoyed our time in this beautiful Villa. The conversion was done very well and retained elements of the wine making history (under the kitchen floor!). The pool was perfect for our four kids. In the morning could walk to a café and shops very easily and at night there were good pizzerias and of course Farmacia dei Sani for an upmarket night out. The 15 minute drive to sit outside and have a fantastic pizza Pizzeria Borgo Vecchio in Miggiano is well worth the trip. One of us is coeliac and gluten free was not a problem in most places. The Ionian beaches are long perfect sandy beaches that are great for whiling away a lazy day. The Adriatic side has large rock pools which are great for swimming, but few comfortable sitting options. Otranto and Lueca are well worth going to for dinner and an evening wander. Compared to Tuscany and the northern lakes, this part of Puglia has a low key vibe and is lovely for a family holiday. It helps if you have a few words of Italian.

Summary: We are a group of 4 couples who stayed in Villa Giulio for a week in June 2017. The villa suited us well with 4 bedrooms, all with ensuites. The villa is in the town so it is easy to walk to restaurants and cafes. We did not use the kitchen much, but it is functional. Despite being in the town the villa is private and has substantial grounds offering a mix of shade, the temperatures were circa 30 degrees. The pool was a welcome facility in the heat. We used the facility of the chef offered by Giulio and had a first class meal. there was so much food that it lasted us for several meals!!! All of our meals were eaten outside. We would highly recommend the villa. Stephen

Summary: We had a wonderful two weeks at the property. Roberto (the manager) was extremely kind and helpful. The property is well proportioned and the rooms are kept to a high standard. The only disappointment is the kitchen. It simply isn't adequate for a large group of people and detracts from the over all experience of the property. The size of the kitchen in the main room in the kitchen can be seen from the photographs - it is suitable for two people, but not 8! It is also not practical to share the cooking across the kitchen in the main room and the kitchen off one of the bedrooms. It really is a shame as the rest of the property is lovely and we enjoyed our stay.
