Positive: The location of the rental is absolutely fantastic... it's right on the town square of Pierrefonds and the balcony looks out over the Chateau which is only a five minute walk from the rental. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped, and there was air conditioning in the bedroom which was very nice. It was also not noisy at all which was surprising given where it was located.
Negative: We had two pretty major issues during our stay. The first was that there was a LOT of mold in the bathroom... all in the grout of the tiles on the shower floor as well as climbing about a foot up the shower walls. My friend and I couldn't be in the bathroom for more than 30 seconds without starting to have sneezing fits. It also looked like there might be mold around the front door and window. The second issue was the key pick-up/drop off situation. We were instructed to pick up the key from a bakery when we arrived on Monday, which went okay. However, upon trying to check-out the following morning, we discovered that everything in Pierrefonds is closed on Tuesdays... including the bakery we picked up the key from. So I called both of the phone numbers the host gave me and left voicemails and emailed them and received no reply. About 1.5 hours later with no communication from the host, I re-translated the message about dropping off the key and discovered that they meant for us to drop it off at a *different* bakery... one that was open on Tuesdays. But the woman at that bakery wouldn't take it - she told me to call the hosts because she had no idea what I was talking about. So I left, and tried calling the host again... still no response. Then I tried to figure out if there was any way to lock the door and leave the key in the flat but there was no lockbox or mail slot or anywhere I could safely leave the key so we waited to see if the host would get back to us. They didn't. I gave it another hour or so and then I finally got fed up with waiting and went and showed the woman in the bakery the message from the host and she finally took the key from me - with a big eye roll and scoff as she yanked the key out of my hand. Long story short I spent 3.5 hours trying to return the key, which really screwed up my travel for that day... and it's been a week and I still haven't heard anything from the host.
Summary: Great Location... However It Is Hard To Find, The Key Pick-Up/Drop Off Is Bad, and There's Mold

Positive: The house was lovely, we loved the idea of the visitors book and having breakfast on the balcony. The information on the town was very useful, and we liked the decor of the castle. The balcony was very cute with the solar lights and the views were spectacular.
Negative: Getting the keys and finding the property was a little stressful, but apart from that we had an excellent stay!
Summary: Absolutely loved the house, wish we could have sat on the balcony forever!

Positive: The location next to the castle is amazing. The little balcony upstairs has a great view. It is easily walkable to the village, restaurants, the church, the castle, and the lake. The bakery literally next door is very good for breakfast. Private onsite parking was a huge plus. The apartment is clean, spacious, and has everything you need. I can't imagine a better place to stay In Pierrefonds.
Negative: From the outside it looked like a small storage area next to the bakery. It was a little hard to find. Also, there is only one small mirror downstairs in the bathroom which made two of us getting ready a bit of a challenge. Even a small mirror upstairs would have been very helpful. Also the stairway is steep and the bathroom is downstairs so something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues or frequent nocturnal bathroom visits.
Summary: If you are visiting Pierrefonds, stay here!

Positive: Great location, comfortable bed, and parking to the rear. Macarons on arrival were a nice touch. It's not that practical for a week's stay like we did but would be fine for a few nights.
Negative: This is information from our experience. No doubt others will have different opinions. Keys are left at a bakery in the town square, so you don't meet the owners. There was a noise from the bakery during the night like a low constant humming noise. Instructions left in the property were in french so hard to understand. There are no instructions on where to dispose of waste bags, so we ended up using the bin in the town square. Smell of danp downstairs and damp/mould around the front door. The breakfast bar is mounted far too high, so couldn’t use it to eat whilst sitting at the chairs. The shower leaks in the corner onto the floor. Stairs are really steep, and it's awkward as everything is on the ground floor, apart from the bedroom.

Positive: Apartment provides all the amenities you will need for a long and pleasant stay. Located in the center of the Pierrefonds, close to the town square and all shops. Apartment is just in 100 meters from Château de Pierrefonds (the pendragon castle). Free parking in front of the house, in the street. Parking also provided at the back of the house. We had a great stay here. Thanks! :-)
