Begun in 2005 and completed in the fall of 2012, Villa Surewinds has been a labor of love. It is designed for carefree island living…… no worries, barefeet, open windows and gentle breezes. The architectural style is classic Caribbean, (think masonry construction, ceiling fans, and colonial stonework ), updated with tropical hardwoods, an open floor plan, contemporary finishes and expansive outdoor living spaces.
Villa Surewinds , as its name implies, was sited to fully capture the cooling trade winds, which bathe the house in a continual ocean breeze. There is no greater luxury than living in an open air home where you can truly experience the sights and sounds of your natural surroundings. (Just in case the wind changes, 3 bedrooms are air conditioned.) From sunrise to sunset there are views to excite the eye and calm the senses.
Surewinds is on the south side of St. Thomas in Frenchman’s Bay Estate, centrally located between Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook. The house overlooks the beach at Bolongo Bay which is the home of the USVI Diving Club. There are no neighbors, no streetlights and no traffic. Green Cay Plantation is a newly gated community featuring both luxury villas and fulltime island homes. The plantation roads are wide and safe for jogging, biking and kids at play. Surewinds is located at the end of a cul-de-sac so a stray car seldom passes by.
The floorplan is flexible for groups of all kinds... several couples, one or two families, etc. With 3 ½ bathrooms, 1 1/2 kitchens, great pool and tremendous pool deck and balconies, and sleeping space for up to 10 guests. WE ALSO OFFER THE OPTION OF ADDING THE DETACHED APARTMENT FOR LARGER GROUPS - SEE OUR LISTING 448096. If you rent only the villa, the apartment would remain empty.
The Surewinds décor can be described as “put your feet up” casual. The watchword here is “clean and simple”. There is little clutter, so there’s less to worry about. The stainless modern kitchen is fully supplied for large dinners, Wi-fi is in place (so you don’t get tooooo relaxed)! There is great space for entertaining, both indoor and out (as in a wedding). In-house catering by a noted island chef is available at an additional cost.
Main Floor: Open floor plan kitchen /dining / living room, powder room, laundry utility room, Primary Bedroom(queen bed) w/ whirlpool tub and outdoor shower.
Pool Level: Bedroom 1 (king bed + queen sofa bed), Bedroom 2 (queen bed + single bed), Bedroom 3 (trundle bed w/ 2 twins).
Finally, here are some details to consider as you plan your vacation:
*This is a quiet, private setting. You will have to find your hustle and bustle elsewhere.
*We have done our best to make the house “child-safe” by gating the pool area, but nothing can replace parental supervision in a home that’s perched on a hill.
*Only the Main House / Main Floor is accessible without climbing at least a dozen stairs. There is a single stair at the front entrance, so wheelchair access is limited. If you are traveling with children, we suggest this house for Ages 3+, but we will let you be the judge.
*There are ceiling fans in every room, the 3 main bedrooms are air-conditioned. The breeze is fabulous!
* The 11’x 14’ pool is 9’ at the deep end, and about 3’ at the shallow end. It’s great for lounging, quick cool downs and some active pool play, but it’s NOT for diving or swimming laps.

Summary: Host was extremely accommodating. After having our reserved VRBO cancelled 2 days prior to arrival, Sandra was able to have her beautiful home quickly cleaned and prepared for us within 1 day! She saved our family vacation. The location is wonderful with breathtaking views! The house is well equipped with all the staples you need in the kitchen, ample beach towels and nice laundry facilities. It was great to be able to dip in the pool after a day at the beach. The main areas of the house are not air conditioned so it did get warm, even with the wonderful sea breezes and ceiling fans. We were all thankful for the air conditioned bedrooms. Having to leave the doors open to capture the breeze did invite mosquitoes and other bugs, so plan on using bug spray. The windows do not have blinds so you can enjoy the amazing views, hence the sun wakes you up early (bring a face mask if you require darkness to sleep). The water comes from cisterns so not drinkable but we managed by purchasing water and ice. Overall it was a wonderful place to stay and would recommend staying here. Would give it 4.5 stars out of 5!

Summary: Surewinds near Bolongo Bay on St. Thomas is the perfect house to enjoy the beauty of the island, the family and friends you are with and the many things to do. We had a wonderful time! The house is beautiful, offering a way to have a large group live together, without sacrificing privacy. We were a group of nine, and some of our best times were those just being together around the dining room table. Poolside was our favorite for cocktails every evening, and early mornings on the balcony, watching the islands "wake up" is priceless. Would do it again in a heart-beat!

Summary: Used the house for girl's weekend. There were 10 women (ages 27-37) so we only rented the main house and had plenty of space. Any more then that you would want the extra apartment so everyone has a bed to sleep on, 10 women in the house is max capacity! The house with the decks and pool area let everyone spread out so it didn't feel crowded with that many people. There are some amazing local beaches nearby that are not for the cruise ship crowd and we sat alone several days. Sandra was very helpful and we had everything we needed! She also recommended a catamaran rental company and they were excellent. The house was clean, modern, very breezy in the afternoons with the windows open we didn't need the air conditioning in the downstairs bedrooms at all. The kitchen was perfect for cooking dinners and breakfast at home. Every morning we sat with coffee and mimosas on the decks and looked out at our amazing view. The pictures do not do the view justice. We did go to Duffy's Love Shack for really good caribbean food and dancing on the weekends. We also are close enough to take the 10 minute ferry over to St John for sunset drinks and dinner. The house is a great location, beautiful, and many of the girls were already making plans to return with their families. The house is close enough to town to be convenient for dinner or groceries but far enough away that you feel isolated. The price cannot be matched with any other property on the islands! We spend a long week on a different island every winter and this place makes me want to come back to this specific house and area.

Summary: Our family of 7 adults and 2 kids stayed at this luxurious house over the the thanksgiving week. It's exactly as Sandra describes it and she is on top of her game with any questions you have about the island or the property. (We did get the apartment as well.) If we travel again to the island with everyone we will definitely be staying at this property. I guess I should say we will be traveling to St Thomas again in the future and will no longer have to look for another property. From the location to the accommodations we have no complaints. Thanks Wright family for making our week a fantastic one.
